Honestly, if we're going to play Mauri, I think he has to come in as a pure destroyer. He doesn't have the positioning or the passing skills to play as a CDM.

I honestly think Gattuso could coach him into being an intelligent destroyer. I just don't think having him anchor the center is the best idea.

Higuain was almost perfect. Not a single chance was created for him, because our midfielders and wingers are poor.

Donnarumma is BAD

Overall, Milan played pretty well with the usual issues we’ve had since 2008- zero creativity or ability to possess the ball in the midfield.

That's what I saw also. Extremely fast at getting the ball forward. Very good sign.

Thought some of the defending early on was really bad on the flanks. Sometimes overcommiting wide leaving space in the middle, or Borini completely losing his player for their first goal. Needs work.

Kessie is an absolute monster. Superstar. Biglia did well also.

Summary:

- Passing grade: Romagnoli, Kesssie, Higuaín and Donnaruma.

- OK grade: Suso and Biglia.

- The rest of the first half horrible. Calabria and Rodriguez can make you develop a nervous tick.

- Borini no good in defense (main responsible of Madrid's first goal) and no good in attack but lots of effort.

- Gattuso should have given some minutes to the rest of players, IMO.

- Bacca as usual can be very dangerous inside the box but outside the box he is horrible.

- Bellanova? Gotta say I loved the kid's effort. Loses the ball and tracks back at full speed unlike Abate and Calabria.

- The good thing about this game is that we have a very good/excellent CF who knows what to do with the ball and the bad thing is how long will take him to be annoyed with Gattuso for fielding Borini over Hakan not that Hakan showed anything in this match.

- Caldara? Some signs of good defending. I expect him to start next to Romagnoli very soon.

- We need very badly a LCM who can pass/put a simple through pass unlike Jack.

- Oh, I almost forgot. Rino, stop with the 3-5-2.

3 of the 4 must be replaced with Italians or no Italmilan. The way I see it. We either start buying top Italian talent or accept Globalization. I feel in order for Milan to be top team again, We may have to lose this philosophy.
