Just for the 2nd half of the season Milan save 18 mil on salary and loan fee by letting Higuain go. Paying 40 mil for Piatek is really like paying 22 mil for him with the savings. Then the extra savings of not giving out 18 mil a year in salary to Higuain for the next 3 years plus the 36 mil redemption fee. This is really a big savings for Milan and not a high spending risky deal.

This really frees up more funds to buy the winger and midfielder.

How much will we save next season when we're forced to look for another striker because Piatek turned out to be a complete flop?

Interesting that you bring this up. Genoa play several variations of 352.
Piatek only started once as a lone striker in Serie A vs Cagliari. He played the full 90 minutes and fired only 2 shots, 1 on target

Move Hakan to SS position closer to the net. Buy SMS for AM position, Paque for LCM. Piatek for CF.

That would be my concern, another striker isolated in our flawed 4-3-3. In the box he looks like a gun, outside the box he can hustle but link up play looks to be his weakness. In order to give him the best chance it's essential that a fast direct left winger arrives.

Defenses work and shift as a unit. Double marking leaves gaps for other players.

Our strongest games this season were played with a 433. Not saying other formations wouldn’t suit us but it’s hard to experiment.

Selling Hakan for 20 million could completely negate this window. He was the only real creative passer we had in the final third until Paqueta came along. Now we go back to being a team with just one player capable of threading through a creative final ball again?

(Don't tell me Suso is a creative passer. He's a clockwork winger with a wonderful curveball, but hardly above average in creativity.)
