No he isn't, Maldini is a great leader because he is the ultimate proffesional and ulthough he has as much passion for the club as any one else, he isn't blinded by it. Unlike Rino who's idea of passion is being really violent.

yes i kno that, of course i do, paolo is my all time fave player, but wat i'm saying is that gatuso is also a very good leader as he brings morale to the squad and pumps players, coaches and crowds up. hes very instrumental to our success

You ought to be in the same team with him, on the picth, in the dressing rooms or in training, to realize whether or not he's a leader ... Unfortunately, none of us enjoys that privilege ...

gattuso a great leader eh?
thats why he managed to commit a silly challenge in a recent FRIENDLY game in the states, that ultimately earnt him a red card...
We was supposed to goto states to promote our club in the region...
getting sent off like that sure fuels the cause positively... ;)

Gattuso needs to cool down and be more composed...
Use his head before his heart...

A great leader is one who steps up and shifts up a gear when the team is down... a leader dictates the pace of the game and all his players respect and follow his ideas, because they believe in him... a leader should typically an exceptional footballer and communicates with his player and manager.... a leader who has a good game typically sprinkles his magic to the rest of the team and raises their performance a notch as well...

imho great leaders that insantly come to mind....
lothar matthaus, dunga, deauchamp, tony adams, beckenbaur...

it is clear for all to see what they were doing on the pitch...communicating with the other team without forgetting their own duties...

Gattuso: we have to do something important

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

PRESS SURVEY - GATTUSO: 'We have to do something important'
8/8/2005
MILAN - Rino Gattuso spoke to ********** about the Champions League
defeat: 'We have to get to winning straightaway and stop everyone
talking about those six cursed minutes. At half-time at 3-0, it was as
if we were drunk. At a professional level it was the worst experience
to lose a Champions League in that way. I was fortunate enough to
spend some time with Paolo Maldini and Massimo Ambrosini during the
holidays, who have plenty of experience. We talked a lot about the
Liverpool game and the losing the title in the final days. The
conclusion was always the same: we have to do something important to
cancel out this disappointment

AC Milan's Gattuso wants Rangers return
tribalfootball.com - August 19, 2005

AC Milan midfield ace Rino Gattuso admits his dream is to end his playing career with Rangers.

The little Italian - now a mainstay of AC Milan and his national team's midfield - wants to sample the Premiership before moving back to Glasgow with his Scots wife.

The 27-year-old said: "I'd like to come back and play in Britain but it is very hard because Milan are asking too much money for me.

"But it's okay if I have to wait one or two years before coming back. I definitely want to play in England for three or four years and then finish my career at Ibrox."

rino, rino, rino...if i was offered the captaincy at AC Milan i would use my brain.

This has long been a rumour in Scotland. I cant understand it myself as Rangers treated him like shit.

probably his wife...

i see it like this---if he wants to go, let him go ASAP. it's no use trying to convince him to stay...if being next in line to inherit the captaincy of AC Milan isn't incentive enough, he can go where he pleases. let's hope common sense prevails and he sticks around, though..

as far as changes to our playing system, pirlo would suffer without rino. we could balance it, though, by replacing seedorf with ambro and drafting in a similar type player to max to play on the right....someone like de rossi.

There was rumours of him going to man u this summer
Even had a "bye bye gattuso thread" for it
It never happened
He has his eyes on the captain's armband i think
Doubt he'll leave soon

I'd love to show him the exit myself though

Ya I agree. But how would pirlo suffer? I always saw Rino and Ambro as two of the same.

Gattuso stands for passion and tenacity on the field. But, as Yonggoh pointed out, i can't recall the last time Gattuso was able to inspire Milan when in the dumps. Its not his duty, as he's still not Captain, but it speaks a lot about his potential as a leader. You should be able to inspire people, and the best way to do that on a football field is to play exceedingly well urself. I doubt if Gattuso does that enough, if at all.

Gattuso pondered Milan exit!

Gattuso pondered Milan exit! ----- Thursday 1 September, 2005

------------------------------------------------------------

Gennaro Gattuso has made the shock revelation that he considered quitting Milan this summer. The battling midfielder is being groomed as a future captain of the Rossoneri, but has today surprisingly stated that he was pondering a transfer as recently as last week.

"In the last 10 days, I did think about leaving Milan because I felt under too much pressure," he stated. "But I decided to remain because this is a club who look after players in every way possible. Before leaving a side like Milan, you have to think about it a thousand times." Full Report From Channel4.com

Yup, no idea about why he said so... Btw, is Gattuso the next real captain? I think the next captain is Ambro since in PSV and Ascoli games, he is the captain, I think?
