Benzemas value comes from his ability to play with wingers who are more like forwards and feed the attack. Madrid could go for another star striker who can score as the main man but chances are he won't have the same link up ability as benzema. It's not necessarily that he has amazing playmaking skills but he finds spaces and has combo plays with the other attackers.

To me benzema is similar to a worse version of lewandowski. Also didn't he get injured a shit ton this year, like every year? From what I remember he had one of the best goal scoring rates in the league

Who gives a FUCK about anyone playing in Madrid or Barca? There is literally only one team in that league who can prevent either team from scoring 3 on them at will, and we're sittin here talkin about whether Suarez vs Benz vs whothefuckever... all of em will score buckets of goals. Never....there's a reason why I call him "Shitzema" :D
But he is a world class striker no doubt. Mourinho described him as a "cat" when he really wanted to hunt with a dog. I think he wanted to say that he was a bit of a pussy...without actually calling him one. He's surely not a raging pit bull like Suarez and lacks Luis' killer instinct. He's more of a thoughtful and precise assassin than a brawler like Suarez. Again the dog and cat analogy is fitting

But he was ultimately preferred to a beast of a player like Higuain...which is partly down to his huge asking price but also to his ability to combine well with the other attackers without sacrificing his role as a striker

Yeah I agree. His ability to link up with the wingers and open up space for them has been crucial to Real Madrid's attack for years now.

However, I'd still consider Lewandowski and Suarez easily a level above him. You could put those two in any team and they'll thrive.
