I know I'm going to get bashed for this but if the team continues to improve as it has then I believe pioli Will be retained and tbh he actually might be a good coach in the long term. Remember Carlo was considered a failure at huge before here.

Nah, get a proven coach.

Enough with this mediocre shit.

Pioli is a good transitional coach.

But as we upgrade the players need an upgraded coach also.

#Raiola up #Donnarumma : "Renewal? Everyone knows what I think but I don't want to raise a fuss now. It's early to talk about him."

#Raiola : "Renewal #Bonaventura ? Difficult, he plays little and he is not happy "

Maldini after the game:

“There are rules that are open to interpretation, but I wouldn’t focus too much on that or the suspended players for the second leg.

“I want to focus on a great performance from the team and well planned by the coach, especially in the middle of the park. We certainly emerge from this game significantly more confident than we were before.

“We need to be more clinical, as we don’t score enough goals for all that we create. There are regrets at not winning the game, but when you don’t take your chances against a quality side like Juventus, anything can happen.

“We’ll be without Ibra, Theo Hernandez and Castillejo, but we will certainly get 11 players together, so that’s the important thing!”

About the yellow cards:

“When you play at this level, unfortunately, you get caught up in the importance of the game and dive into the tackle. We ask our players to be courageous, to fight hard, to battle, so we can’t complain about that attitude now.

“The loss to Inter could’ve killed us, but we proved immediately that we are back on track and performing to a high level.”

Pioli's comments:

“I told my lads to leave the pitch without regrets. I can say, they will have no regrets. I am very proud of their performance, so are the Milan fans.

“We wanted to get the victory, we were in a strong position to do so, but this is just the first leg and we’ll try to do even better in the second.”

Penalty?

“I got angry first and foremost because there was a foul on Ibrahimovic earlier in the move. Plus I remember the referees showed footage of that Cagliari-Brescia penalty at the start of the season and said it was an error to award it because the player couldn’t see the ball.

“I therefore don’t see what’s so different with this situation, as Calabria couldn’t see it. Alberto Cerri, in that situation, jumped and could not just cut his arms off, you have to use your arms when jumping. He didn’t have time to get his arms back into position.”
Maldini has been spot on the entire season whenever he talked to the media. He should do it more often tho.

Nice interview from Paolo. The teams deserves a praise.
Pioli also deserves a praise, but it took him half a season to find best formation and players. Can't trust him.
Good work from Bobini for going from Hakan-Piatek-Suso to Rebic-Ibra-Samu without spending anything. We even saved up some for the upcoming mercato.
It's a shame Hakan is only freekick specialist and not a through ball specialist. We'd be 5-1 up yesterday, if we had 10 like Luis Alberto.
Guess, this position is waiting for Daniel Maldini to explode

The penalty is ok to me. Calabria's left arm is in a weird and un unjustifiable position, also he seems to turn his head in the direction of it, like someone who's expecting that the ball could come from that, like it did.

I heard that probably Ibrahimovic was fouled earlier and the game should have been stopped.

But one thing i'm sure changed the game and it was really wrong: the Theo Hernandez first yellow card. It was a bs yellow and also Dybala fouled Bennacer one second earlier, but the referee didn't blow the whistle for it.

Also Castillejo's yellow card was really bs and he will miss the second leg, but i'm sure Saelemaekers will play a great game.

I honestly believe that there is reason for optimism, despite the fact that the team still has a long way to go. The above quote highlights the reason we've been seeing Milan's performances improve: courage and fighting spirit. It's not just that the players are instructed to play this way, it's also that players are being played/signed who exhibit these characteristics. So it's coming from the top and will likely stay regardlessly of who the long term coach will be.

The squad and line up will continue to improve with each transfer window, as long as they maintain this standard.

Weird?

Unjustifiable?

Do me a favor and film yourself while jumping as high as you possibly can. Then let's see where your arms are. You don't even have to simulate that your looking straightly to a ball which can lead in you being a tad bit unbalanced in the air.

Then we retalk how weird and unjustifiable your arms are .

Besides, this discussion has become obsolet since both Maldini and another ex referee said after the game that Rizzoli showed a similar situation to the coaches and team captains in an annual meeting last November where the PK was also given but Rizzoli admitted that this situation shouldn't be rewarded with a PK.

So whatever one might think about Calabrias armposition being voluntary, weird or not — Rizzoli himself, who is the highest ref authority, said this is no PK. Period.

Pretty funny refs admit wrong calls for Juve and nothing gets done. And it keeps happening over and over

The only fair approach is if every single handball is given
Then fine it was a pen
Otherwise it should be looked at in context of the action and he was falling from initial jump
But introducing interpretation reintroduces Juve bias
So we can’t win
We need to get back into our domain (the Champions League)

I‘d say you are contradicting yourself a bit here, the current system works quite well because Ibra is great with reactive runners. Piatek himself is a very reactive striker so having a more playmaking player like Suso in the attack makes absolute sense in theory.

I don‘t think the current system would have worked pre winter transfers.

No contradiction. Playing Suso-Piatek-Hakan, while he had Rebic, Leao, Samu on the bench, was stupid.
We scored 16 goals in 18 games in the first half of the season, sometimes couldn't shot on goal once in 90 minutes. Don't tell me Suso-Piatek-Hakan made sense.

How are Rebic, Leao and Samu supposed to work without any creative player? Apart from them not showing any quality performances either, I mean each spot in attack was there to be taken and non of them achieved anything, especially Leo and Rebic had some absolute shockers.

Yes, we ask for a Paolo Maldini from Celtic 2007... not this arm flailing tube man calabria

Calabria over Conti, younger and sturdier in both attack and defense.
It’s not saying much, one is a lesbian wingback the other is a wannabe keeper.

Calabria did nothing wrong, the amount of hate he gets in general is unreal. Is he supposed not to jump in a high ball situation or what?

Nobody jumps with their arms behind the back. Just a complete BS penalty, not the players fault the ref doesn‘t know or doesn‘t want to know how to judge it.

I‘d like to see more of Calabria in fact. Conti isn‘t doing much in attack anymore and in defense he is just not very good. I don‘t see the upside of playing Conti atm.

In summer I‘d try to sell Conti and Calabria maybe too if he gets a good offer.

We'd be making the same mistake again as we did before. If you aim high, you need a great leader and Pioli is not that. Pioli is okay, he's got the team to work and Ibra infused some spirit. Rebic finally woke up(LMAO at the people that said bring Silva back btw  struggling in an inferior league) and that's a good sign. But the team should be higher up if our start wasn't botched by that fraudulent imbecile we had as a leader before Pioli.

We need to sign a proper coach and that will cost. We can't be surprised that we've got monkeys working for us when we're paying with bananas. Good personell has a price.

I wouldn't complain much about the pen if they didn't explicity have a very similar situation before that was deemed a mistake and should've been a non call. Also heard that from Pioli.

Refeeres simply award cards against Jube opponents much easier while giving more leeway to them. It's unjust and the bias couldn't be more obvious.

It's a shame but really what can anyone do? This corruption wasnt removed when they were justly relegated and stripped, just interrupted/or rather moved towards Merda. I am not asking for referees to prefer us - I just want to watch football without referees deciding who wins.

I've been following another insider for some time named Chris Kilpin Milanista and he's had some good calls. Now he is saying that the Arnault take over is happening and this info is delivered by a member of the negotiation group. Still everything is confidential but you can't avoid leaks...

At first when I read Swiniola's interview about Gigio I got pretty irritated but if you think about it... Why would he say it is 'not the right time' to discuss a contract renewal of a player expiring in 16 months? As if he is waiting for something to happen...

Was watching some flamenco games with paqueta. He definitely has the ability to be a super number 10. In fact he is definitely an attacking no.10. almost a second striker. I have no idea why he isn't tried there for a full game. If regains from and reaches his potential alongside leao can become two of the better players in the world.

In fact I'm convinced we have the following who have the potential to be world class in their respective positions;

Donna
Roma
Theo
Benna
Kessie (for his position as a defensive mid especially if he keeps it simple with his passing)
Leao
Paq

That's a good start.

This team has the potential. It just needs to come together.

Paqueta needs a free role but is definitely more comfortable in an attacking role. He can contribute to defending but yes give him time, confidence and a flexible attacking role = a different player.

4411 with Paq behind Ibra maybe? He's shown the ability to be defensive-minded when required last season while a free role better suits him. Just worried about his current state and not showing much other than a few good passes the last months. Want him to turn it around if he can take the chances he gets.

Potential to become world class means nothing, even Bonera had it.

It's a quite unpredictable thing, Castillejo looked like a chimp on Ketamine most of the time last year, now he's growing into one of the best RM of Serie A

Agree 100%. Samu and rebic also have tremendous potential. The thing this team has over past seasons is that it is stacked with potential. Will it be realised? That is to be seen. Didn't look good earlier in the season but it does now.

I believe if these guys are to get to that level then at the very least in the summer we need to get Silva back, modric and retain Ibra. Let them be the core leaders in the group.

Tbh then I believe all we need is a RB overhaul and that's about it. Let everything come together with those guys pushing the standards and let the young guys grow into what could be our next cl winning core because I think people would be silly not to think that there could be some great players in that group I listed.

I think priorities should be:

1) RB because we can't wait anymore for Calabria and Conti to perform consistently
2) DM because the Bennacer-Kessie can't play 50 games per season, we need another quality player there.

If this team succeed to make 4th place, i wouldn't make another massive revolution. Other nice addition would be:

3) A quality CB to pair with Romagnoli
4) A typical argentine versatile attacking player that can cover CAM, SS, RW/LW and CF so that he gives us options to replace any of the four attacking players of our current formation
