Doesn't matter. When transfer budgets are allocated, the practice I understand is to include transfer fee plus wages for the full length of the contract. That's what managers play with. Essentially the budget that's allocated is a contract budget.

Transfer budget for a season = Transfer fee for incoming player plus wages for the duration of his contract minus transfer fee of outgoing player minus wages saved from the remaining part of his contract.

Actual cashflow is a different matter. That's something that's not (shouldnt be) in the KRA of the transfer manager but in the KRA of the club's finance guy. It's that guy's job to structure the actual payout over years.

Gotcha.

I'm not sure it really matters persay. Man utd aren't starved for cash. Just don't know how to use it.

Di Maria does address a need but not all their needs. Also kind of makes Herrera redundant. Probably should have used his and shaws money for better defenders

Yeah exactly. Although Shaw is just fine for the EPL though.
