Love this guy before even seeing him in our shirt, he must be very lucky.

I checked the other threads the only guy everyone was positive about from the beginning was T.Silly, so maybe he turns out good too.

Except Monty and Prince every midfielder we have should be benched and shd not be first 11 players ..

Glad he came for free .. Solid in all aspects of the game ..

If Flamini could finally grow a brain, to at least the levels of his best season in football and Arsenal, then a Flamini - Monty - Prince central midfield could be one for the next 3-4 seasons. But, Prince is out injured way too often, and he hasn't been doing much defensive work compared to when he first joined. And Flamini? Well ... his contribution thus far speaks for itself.

All in all, we still need to make additions in the middle of the park - quality additions that will cost money. No need in getting free players as we already have midfielders of that quality.

Realistically speaking, if we sell Pato, we could bring in two decent CMs and still have some spare change. And if somehow we find a club stupid enough to pay 15 for Binho, then we can bring in a top third striker, with SES as 4th choice.

Midfield improved, and you could argue, strike force improved.

Then, we've got LB and CB issues, but we've had the former for sometime now, and coped rather well. Worst comes to worse, deploy Flamini at LB :o

very true kalu! his workrate is nowhere near to when he joined, especially in the defensive phase.

How often does he start for Azzuri? And what are his chances for Euro?

Depends really. He started pretty consistently during the qualifiers, but it depends who Prandelli puts has trequartista.

If he puts a more offensive minded player like Giovinco there, then it will be marchisio/monty fighting it out for the LCM spot with pirlo and de rossi next to them.

But he has played Montolivo as a trequartista during the qualifiers (ex: against spain), and he has done reasonably well, but we all know that isnt his preferred position.

So i guess its between him, marchisio, and nocerino for the LCM, but im guessing Marchisio is first choice.

He is pretty much a sure bet to make the final 23 . IN terms of starting formation , he should be italy's starting trequartista (ahead of giovinco) , behind Balo and cassano . He should be getting enought playing time since he can play all 4 positions of the midfield.

I don't think he'll be the trequartista though. Prandelli experimented that only when Cassano was unavailable and Giovinco wasn't there.

Montolivo is far more comfortable as one of the 3 in the midfield.

He will lose his place in the starting XI if Italy shifts to a 3-5-2 though, and there is speculation that they might.

Monto is not just a sure bet to be in the squad, but a sure bet to be in the starting eleven for the Euros. He will NOT be played as a trequartista but as a LM. Prandelli played a 4-3-1-2 with Balotelli and Rossi up front supported by Cassano but that didn't work well. The best formation we have played consistently well with was a 4-4-2: Maggio, Chiellini, Barzagli, Balzaretti; Marchisio, Pirlo, De Rossi, Montolivo; Cassano, Rossi, where any one of the four midfielders can be a trequartista (I think Thiago Motta was the most suitable)... I have seen Aquilani, Giovinco and Balotelli in this formation but haven't done so well with the rest. Prandelli will have a very tough task trying to make the players click in the short time before the Euros.

I expect this formation for the Euros:

Buffon; Maggio, Chiellini, Barzagli, Balzaretti; De Rossi, Pirlo, Montolivo; T.Motta; Balotelli, Cassano.

Giovinco can be our super sub but I haven't seen him put in a good game for Italy yet. Di Natale sucks big time and has never performed under pressure not for Udinese or for Italy.

Sorry for taking Monto's thread to talk about Italy...point being is Monto is valued very very highly by Prandelli and will be a start 100%..but not as a trequartista. He will be the left Mezz'ala.

Very likely. Hopefully he'd have helped us win a couple of CLs by then, and hence the haters won't matter.

There is no chance in hell a loser is gonna troll the club like that midget did.
Wining titles while playing average shouldnt happen unless the coach is a biased idiot & thank god that coach is failing elsewhere.
Now if a player underperform then he is gone , be it Monto or any other player.
