AC Milan to play Arsenal in pre-season friendly competition
13.02.10 | Ian Ferris

AC Milan will take part in the annual Emirates Cup tournament held in London alongside Arsenal, and two other teams to be announced at a later date, the club have announced.

Club vice president Adriano Galliani said a sponsorship deal had been struck with Fly Emirates, and they will play in the tournament which takes place between July 31 and August 1.

"Milan will play at the Emirates Cup in London," Galliani told the press after signing the deal.

"The opposition will be Arsenal and two other clubs of international level that are yet to be established."

Milan will also be travelling to Dubai as part of their winter training break.

"Our fans in Dubai will see us again in the new year and we will be there for five or six days during the winter break," he added.

He hopes the deal with Emirates will help Milan continue to achieve sustained success.

"Our successes attract major international sponsors and I am sure that we will also fly with Emirates over the next few years," he concluded.

emirates cup is a decent tournament you get to see 3 teams play in one day no too shabby especially since the ticket is 20-30 pounds only issue is the teams it has been arsenal inter psg valencia and ajax in the past hopefully it will be arsenal milan psg hamburg and maybe Olympiacos still a fairly worth while competition.

plus it is a great way to evaluate new players

???

went to it last year. 4 teams. play back to back 1 day, and winners play each other next day w/ losers playing each other for 3rd place.

last year it was Arsenal, Atletico Madrid, Rangers, PSG

sidenote: Jack Wilshere is damn good.

yes a very decent player i think he made his debut at the emirates cup, that one of the reason why it is such a good competition you always get to see arsenal newest and finest young talent plus inter getting thrashed in 07 was very entering.

it used to be spread over two day usually the weekend i would highly recommend it just one side note emirates stadium is ridiculously expensive eat around the stadium there is a entire high road full of restaurants which some great food plus don't use high bury or holloway tube station they get incredibly full on match days

??? thats what it was last year and will be again this year......

i guess this year they r taking a day break but still...

Not a bad deal, i paid 20 pounds and sat 5th row for 2 matches.... considering it's a preseason friendly the atmosphere is pretty tame to anyone going (well except for ranger fans). Considering I had no rooting interest, only wanted to fill a day while i was travling, and thought it'd be fun, I was not hassled, can't complain.

this was my view:

No it isn't, it's good for match fitness, and it's better than going to the USA (that was a raging success ) at least the opposition is decent.

DC United - 8pm EST
Chicago - 7:30pm EST
Montreal - 8pm EST

For you, that would be 1am, 12:30am, and 1am respectively, I do believe. Could be worse. :D

Im trying to attend the game in washington. Granted most of the team won't be there because they'll be called up for south africa, It would still be nice to see them play again.

Hey, some of our American cousins have to get up pretty early to catch some regular Serie A games. It's only fair we have some unsociable hours to deal with from time-to-time.

Plus, any excuse to miss a day of school, right? :)

(don't know how the unhappy face got up there. I'm not unhappy)

I'm interested in the Emirates Cup too. My mates an Arsenal and Milan fan so we're thinking of going. Wanted to go to the San Siro this season, Fiorentina at the beginning of May would've been the game of choice, but plans didn't come to anything. Emirates Cup would do nicley though!

Question to M84, where did you get the tickets to the Emirates cup? Did you buy them from the Arsenal ticket office?

Because i'm looking to go this year and watch Milan.
