Didn't know that re Martial. Anyway, if you include the option of another year, his amortization value would be 60m/5 years = 12m, 60m-(3*12m) = 24m. Therefore, any amount received in excess of this represents a capital gain.

Anyway, I don't think anybody would buy Martial outright on his current form so Utd could be forced to accept an expensive loan with option to buy.

As for Rabiot, if he's refusing to extend its clear he's already accepted an offer elsewhere which rules out a bidding gain. He came up through the youth academy so any amount received is a 100% capital gain. Given their FFP situation, 30-35m is a very good amount.

Yep and both are still very young so could be sold at a profit in future. I wouldn't discount Rabiot joining too. He's also very young, covers multiple positions and could also be sold at a profit. Martial-Bakayoko-Rabiot would make all 3 feel right at home.

I think people that are okey with this transfer didn't watch 1 game of EPL last season. They are acting like this is risk free. He makes 6.5 million salary, is gonna cost us points if he plays. I have a feeling we're gonna pay 5 million loan and 30 option.

If he's the only midfielder signing we do...:fp::fp::fp:

Laxalt is primarily a WB who's very good at going forward but defensively suspect. Defence can be improved over time but we need to hit the ground running so can't afford to take gambles. Besides, it looks like he's headed to Russia.

If we sign a legit LW like Martial then Gattuso may prefer a more defensive minded LB like RR/Strinic to accompany him.

I would gladly swap Rabiot for RR and get Laxalt if it was a possibility though.
