Andrea Conti is now officially a Milan player. His arrival will boost the rossoneri’s attacking power and give manager Montella plenty of options.

After weeks of waiting, Andrea Conti was finally able to fulfill his childhood dream and in the next few hours he will officially become the newest player of AC Milan. The 23 year old right back for whom the rossoneri have splashed 24 million euros plus Matteo Pessina, strongly wanted the red and black shirt and pushed a lot for a move at Milan despite the fact that his now old team, Atalanta, and in particular manager Gasperini did not intended to sell him.

Today’s edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport analyzes how Conti and his style of play will change Milan. In the last few seasons the young defender has done well, both in the 4-3-3 of Italy U21 and in the 3-5-2 of Gasperini last season at Atalanta. Andrea has proved to be quite good both defensively and above all in attack . The numbers of the last season clearly depict his amazing attacking abilities. Conti managed to score 8 goals and is the defender who has fired the most shots of any other defender in Serie A. At the same time, if we look at the areal duels and balls recovered, he would be in top 15 of the defenders.

Of course, repeating in a big team like AC Milan will not be simple, but Conti has all the features to do well. With a player like him manager Vincenzo Montella can pass smoothly from 4-3-3 to 3-5-2, with which he can certainly push more and penetrate more easily in the penalty area. His arrival is a clear indication that this season’s defense of three will be an option that manager Montella could use often.

Andrea Conti is Marco Fassone’s and Massimiliano Mirabelli’s seventh signing in this crazy summer transfer window. He joins a long list of newcomers like Musacchio, Kessie, Rodriguez, Andre Silva, Borini and Hakan Calhanoglu.

It's sad to think of how many great scoring opportunities have fallen to Abate over the years. He's so terrible around goal, it'll be great to have Conti in the side. The same can be said of DES, just terrible players in the attacking third.

Abate rarely got chances to score, because you have to get in those positions first.
The guy stayed stuck on the touch line delivering mediocre crosses.
In all his time here I don't think he's been in scoring positions or starting from the wing and cutting inside more than 10 times.
When he gets the ball, his (no) brain tells him "run straight to the goal line and cross".
Even sending curling balls from 30 yards away from the goal line Is rare... 95% of his crosses are made from 10 yards away from the corner flag.

It´s best to use Abate to widen the play as he has a very good first touch when it comes to long and high balls. He is not really somebody that should search a goal scoring opportunity.

Conti won´t score much goals with us next year if we play 4 at the back, I hope nobody is expecting that.

Doesn't really matter what number he wears. Just hope he will destroy the opponent with his abilities.

100% it would be naive to expect Conti to score as much as he did last season.

as for Abate, it's not bad to to widen the play but if nothing comes of it (good crosses) it amounts to 0. and worse that's, his only move and he is bad at it.

an able full back in todays game, has to at least be an occasional goal threat.
the opposing fullback should be on the fence, thinking "he can come inside and shoot (or pass) or go wide and cross.
with him the opponent already knows to push him wide and let show his crossing "skills"

i understand going wide is his style, but if he was producing good things from it. we would at least call him a limited but effective fullback.
but as it stands right now he is 0 dimensional because he is bad at the only dimension he has
