Montolivo is dubbed the next Pirlo. Has awesome technique. Good shot with both feet, intellegent passer, nice control... and unlike Pirlo he can defend well. Such an elegant player. It's just a matter of time till Aquilani and himself establish themselves as first team regulars for the national team.

Afaik he's more of an attacking midfielder and could replace Seedorf in the future. Alongside with Pazzini they're the future of Italian football. Would be a great addition.

hmmm i see montolivo as a replacement for totti, aquilani resembles pirlo more and he lies back more, montolivo plays il trequartista which would put him behing the attackers. we could get him and use him and brocchi as two centrals

And where would this leave the likes of Kaka and Pirlo?

As that other quality attacking option we need Montolivo would be an excellent choice, however I believe it would take a large sum of money to prize him away from La Viola as he is rated very highly and is one for the future. If Milan plan on going through a mini-revolution whether in January or the end of season Montolivo is one player I hope we would look at.

Montolivo plays the same way as Pirlo. He drops deep in defense at times and searches for the ball. He tends to push forward when the time is right, and can play in a host of positions in the central of the park.

Although Montolivo has great promise he still needs time to blosom. He lacks consistency at times and during the game he will have excellent 10min patches then drop the level of intensity and begin to make mistakes. For the time being he should remain at Fiorentina where he will be guarenteed a first team spot inorder to help him matture as a consistent performer.

LOL Sheva's not fast...He's too slow for the English game which is why he's doing so bad.So if he's fast as Sheva that's nothing too postitive.

I don't think Montolivo is a defensive midfielder, he will be a good replacement for Seedorf. About the news, since I don't read the news in Channel4, I don't think the news is correct..

Montolivo is surely not a replacement for Pirlo. If he is to replace someone, he is Seedorf.

Why replace them? I think we should bring in some quality players to challenge them if anything as they are both good players. Montolivo has the ability to fit that bill but he is still relatively young and inexperienced unfortunately. I want to see how he will do at Fiorentina this year.

Montolivo is a big Fail for me,
Same story as Giovinco, verry promising
but eventually not good enough for the highest lvl

montolivo seems interesting too me (at least). He could become a good mezz'ala or CM. Maybe AM but, I don't think he would do too well there?

giovinco has been a star in the making for years now, only problem is juve. kept him on the bench and he didn't play very often..but, when he did, he showed major abilities on the pitch, for his size..hes very young and has plenty of years ahead of him to grow as a player..i deff. wouldn't mind Gio. if Juve. didn't have him loaned out..

this is true, but given the right team, with the right quality around him to help him progress. he can become world class..i really wanna see Gio. become something out of the ordinary..

Gio shined at Juve. But fuck no, let us keep him benched. He'll watch Nedved and the others play, so he can learn something

As depth, I wouldn't mind him. Milan could use a backup for Pirlo.

Here's the thing for me. All about price. I'm not a montolivo fan. I actually get into lots of arguments with people who claim he's 'better than pirlo' (he's in no way). But he's HARDLY a bad player....

Did you know he was actually top 10 in serie A (I believe it was 6th) in tackles won last year? He's quicker and bigger than Pirlo. Not near his technical level but more of a pure CM. Tactically he's pretty intelligent too, intercepts a lot of balls by reading passes

I've liked him a lot less since he got put in a xabi alonso role. But like Pirlo, he does the job he's asked. People act like he or pirlo are static. They aren't. Depends what role they play. Does Pirlo ever look static for Italy? No it's because for Milan he was always asked to sit back and orchestrate.

I remember when Fiorentina used a 4-3-1-2 and he was a more active side CM with technical qualities.

I feel if the price was right, Allegri could find good use to him.
