I actually think the whole 3-5-2 idea popped up after fans (including most of this forum) started saying the players suited 3-5-2 perfectly and the manager would be stupid not to change formation from 4-3-3. Montella and F&M fell into the trap of listening too closely to the fans.

Montella said early on that it's too soon to do 3-5-2 and that he'd stick with 4-3-3 for now. But after the Lazio loss, there was a clear change in everyone's stance. Then they started bringing up excuses saying they were waiting for Romagnoli's fitness to have a left sided CB and so on.
My reading is that the management freaked out after the Lazio loss and thought they were missing out on something obvious that all fans were asking for anyway.

He is moving better and better, looks lighter. Also makes less mistakes in passing. But the shot is still not there at all. Dont know why is that.
