yeah, watched it with 0,25x and now think he didn't. Impressive roar nevertheless. #keyToWin

He saved one penalty the whole night. That was probably his only save of the night.

Luckily it was the one that mattered.

I don't think penalty taking and saving is as much a lottery as people think. It's real skill. Otherwise all goalkeepers would end with a similar distribution of numbers in terms of shootouts won.

The pk takers are reinventing their techniques. It's about time goalkeepers stopped blindly jumping to a random side.

I think Donna was prepared for PKs yesterday. Probably noone expected this so I dont blame him. Otherwise keepers study for hours every PK taker on the opposing team and figure out what his strong points are and where he usualy aims. Its also an analitycs game.

Saving PKs is a skill but if you are Ibra or Ronaldo, nomatter the goalkeepers skill, its probably going in.

Not so surprising if you think about it.

We're back to the February issues.

In January the team would put in complete performances or finish games stronger than they began it, because Rebic and/or Hakan used to come on and bring life to or re-energize the team.
By February they were both starters, leaving us with no one on the bench who could carry the team for the last half-hour. The team would play teams off the park in the first half, only to plummet at the end(Inter, Juve, Fio).

The fatigue issue disappeared completely after the break, for multiple reasons.
Players got the rest they needed, and Pioli was given a real chance to prepare the players for his physically demanding tactics.
The summer games were played at a slow tempo. There were cooling breaks. The games had lower distance covered than usual, despite a lot of added minutes.
We had great impact subs again. Ibra would rotate with Rebic.
Saele, Bona and Leao learned to make the most out of their cameos.

All that has been taken away from the team at the moment.
The preseason preparations were shorter than usual and ruined by NT call-ups.
The match tempos are rising as the temperatures are falling.
Ibra and Rebic have only been available for one game together so far.
Bona is gone. Leao has just returned from an injury, illness and holidays.
Diaz hasn't had enough time to adapt to the team. Hauge is yet to debut.
Daniel and Colombo are Primavera kids that play like Primavera kids.

We'll be fine once the absentees return and the new players acclimatize.

Excellent trolling by both teams. If I had to pick one, I'd say that Rio Ave trolled their fans harder than Milan did.

If he wasn't prepped then he's smoking a fat one.

Rio went into penalties last week vs Besiktas. The homework was practically done for him.

I expected farmers to be intimidated by him the way pk takers are stepping up to someone like Neuer. Instead they just grew in confidence.

I kind of regret that I turned it off during the shoot out.
One of the best thrills i ever encountered other than meeting two girls for a threesome.
How could you miss that ?!!!
Its like missing Sheva's CL penalty & dont think last wasnt important.
For me we were playing for the mercato , for our future.
Lose & no one will be signed & no cl next season.
We fucking won & you missed it.

i think i'm getting old... i was 20 when sheva scored that penalty vs juve and remember it like yesterday.

it was too much on the line, i think it would have been easier to watch a CL knock out shoot out than this.

Is this the most pages we've had in years?

Christ this was horrendous and yet nail-biting.

Yeah, I thought the same. Arsenal 2012, Inter Coppa Italia ET in 2017 or Parma 4-5 game could only possibly compare.

It is the highest game since the victory over Juventus in late 2012, then Arsenal 4-0 earlier that year.

Or that was how far back I went chronologically.

The Arsenal match had 4k posts while this was 1.8k so magnitude of difference.

Gigio unbeaten in penalty shootouts. :love

Do you think jabulani was a lottery? In the end it was round and you could see a training vid of Maradona finding the top corner with easy in one training. Regression line comes more flat than with regular skills.
