IMO RR is better suited as an attacking-minded wingback than the one in the defensive role as Montella often likes to play (last season it was DES playing that unthankfull role). His dictating, orchestrating, distributing and crossing is way too good to waste him too much on defensive duties who, anyway, aren't his strengths.
His skillset is quite unique. That's why he often was on the radar of many top clubs in Europe. He suffered a poor managed Wolfsburg. He came here and he suffered a poor coached Milan. But although Montella really put effort into make former worldclass players like Bonucci or Biglia look like lost school boys RR always was amongst the better ones. All this at 24 years only.
Look guys, once this club is coached by a proper coach again you will see the real RR who not too long ago made even CL winning Real Madrid seriously thinking about purchasing him.
