Abbiati might be leaving AC Milan for being target by Arsenal that searching their ex-goalie David Seaman's replacement who has been moved to Manchester City to sign a-one year contract after agreeing terms with Kevin Keegan's men. But Rossoneri have revealed that AC Milan's goalkeeper is not for sale.

Abbiati turned down Arsenal

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Milan have revealed that they and Christian Abbiati have turned down an approach from Arsenal.

The Rossoneri broke the news on their official website on Monday as rumours concerning the goalkeeper's future continue.

"In the last few days, Milan and Christian Abbiati have rejected a sizeable offer from Arsenal," read the statement.

"Vice-president Adriano Galliani already insisted after the European Cup semi-final win over Inter that Abbiati would remain and he will be part of the squad for the new season."

Abbiati is wanted by a number of clubs after he lost his first team place to Brazilian' keeper Dida in the last campaign.

Apart from Arsenal, who are searching for David Seaman's replacement, newly promoted Serie A side Sampdoria have also been strongly linked.

Abbiati, who made his international debut recently, has often said that he is willing to end his career with the Milan giants.

He would have had playing time, probably same salary, a new experience, a new language and culture - and opted for a salary cut and a couple more years on the bench. Thats loyal... and IMO stupid, too.

He has only one career but obviously he doesnt like challenges.

I would rather sit on the bench of the European Champions than play for Arsenal. Remember - he can still challenge for the #1 keeping spot from Dida, that is his 'challenge' - and if he doesnt usurp Dida from his "throne", he can always play the Coppa Italia matches, some minor Serie A and CL clashes, or just wait for Dida to get injured!!

and at worst, he can always go on loan tempoarily if he REALLY REALLY wants a first team spot - but that would mean he would probably go to a less successful club..

Arsenal themselves are hardly on the ascendency. They had their glory, and are now struggling to stay at the top, whereas Milan are rising again.
