When was this published? Cambiasso's goal in this world cup against Serbia should be up there too. They seem to have focused a bit too much on individual brilliance goals, rather than overall teamwork goals.
Probably right before WC 2006. You're right though. Cambiasso's should be up there along with Maxi Rodriguez's goal against Mexico & Grosso's goal against Germany:D .

@ 40, the bottler might have a future @ Milan.

Why not? Im sure he will do a better job then Gila and his fitness level will probably be better then the ever injured Inzaghi.

Arguably the most ouststanding Italian player of a great generation of Italian players, its a pity he + his group didn't lift football's most coveted prize. On paper, it's pontless comparing the Italy squad of the '90s to that '06 winning squad. IMO, the difference was the scandal, the methods Lippi used to keep the squad isolated + Lippi himself. A great player indeed.

The moral? Probably it's time for A. to move on.

Although Italy won the last WC, I still feel that the WC 90 squad (groomed since the preparation of Euro 88) was the best in the last 20 years (even better than the Baggio-dependent squad in 94).

If it wasn't for Maradona-led Argentine in the semifinal (I have nothing against Maradona or Argentina), the final between their skill vs the industrious, powerful type of play that Mathhaeus & co displayed would surely be better than the one-way traffic game in the real final.

Look at the players: Zenga, Baresi, Maldini, Bergomi, Ferri, Ancelotti, Donadoni, Di Napoli, Giannini, Carnavale, Serena, Baggio, Schilacci, Mancini, Vialli.

Oh I have no doubt in my mind he'd pick up where he left off... when was it... 95-97... doing plenty of bench time + scoring once in a blue moon or sth.

That period should be attributed to the fact that he had a fall out with Capello over the strategy, which led to infrequent start. The fact that Milan was spoilt with choice in striker department (Weah, Savicevic, Simone, Di Canio) didn't help his cause either. Despite only scoring 7 and 5 goals in season 95/96 and 96/97 respectively, I guess it was still a healthy rate, considering Milan's top scorer in both season (Weah) only had 11 and 13 goals.

He rebounded wonderfully next season with Bologna, though. Scoring (if not mistaken) 20 goals (his highest in one season) that brought a call to the WC 98 squad.

If you watched football at the time and not been invested in games of hop scotch and playing with dolls you'd probably see things as gaizka22 does.

If you're going to talk rubbish at least stick to 2003 to present day.

Says who ? The biggest rubbish talker of the forum who decided to 'disappear' for about 2 years because his favorite target of derision was right on pretty much all accounts in her assessments + predictions regarding Milan ?

I say whatever I want + shit on your holy cows.

Passion for nonsense,

Still deluded and still haven't grown up. If I disappeared for two years it certainly wasn't on account of your miserable existence. More socialising, a job and spreading oats if you need to know. If you can at least emulate one of those activities, I'm sure your life will pick up a great deal.

Your claims of being proved right are questionable too. If I picked on one of your obsessions and I've noticed its Drogba at the moment and ignored present form and just kept railing on him, it wouldn't make me "right" or a visionary in two years time when he declines.

If you criticize all the time your view will inevitably be proved "right" one day, because nothing lasts forever. Trouble is you have to endure being wrong for a long period of time. In any case, if you told me two years ago that we were going to have Gilardino instead of Crespo, Inzaghi back in the fold and Sheva leaving, I'd have been right there with you doom saying for Milan because that has been a disasterous mistake. Hopefully rectified temporarily by Ronaldo.

I was only moved to comment because gaizka22 clearly knows more about it than you and provides a reasonable explanation and statistics, and you just spout froth and nothing else.

No "holy cow", just a great player with impressive statistics and a career on record to show anybody who never got to see him and you're very much in the minority if you choose to ignore that.

And I doubt, given the dedication and pride that you have in your position in this forum, that it is in your interests that I come back and post regularly.

I've always been able to slap you in any direction I've wanted to around here ;)

My trouble was that it got addictive.

I'm not gonna bother to comment on your baseless comment. It's plain to see that you only follow his career in Brescia or Inter at most.

Baggio had the same fall out that Gullit had with Capello who preferred a straight 4-4-2 formation in all his Milan years, without a fantatista player as one of the striker (Gullit was deployed as a right winger by Capello). It was clear that Savicevic (hero of 94 CL) and Weah (FIFA World Player in 96) was his first option in attack.

isnt it a little pointless to have a thread with close to no discussion, but just articles that can be googled.
even more so when the articles are NOT in the forum's accepted language, ie english?
