Everyone should keep up with Madrid news this year (it is tough not to actually, since so many insipid people feel they are the world's team). Raul has a Del Piero or Maldini status at the King's club if you will, but eventually even the legendary figures must make way. Madrid has gone trophy-less for two years. This is called bad business in Spain (and most other countries I have visited). They are always expected to deliver, but I think this season you may see some very, very, very drastic things happen if this team starts to slip up as they have the last two seasons. They were terrible in La Liga the first part of last season and they were completely outclassed by Juve in Europe too.

This side, it's fans, and the media have taken a very "Italian-like" approach in that anything less then victory must be considered a failure. The elite in Madrid see to it that big money is spent not only to entertain, but to simply dominate. 2 years of having nothing to show for has left this football aristocracy more then a little disturbed.

Regarding Owen, what I am saying is that if Raul continues to play like a second-rate has-been, Owen will get his chance. Luxemburgo looked like quite the tactician last season when Owen's substitute strikes were winning matches for Madrid. Luxemburgo has no whims about sending a legend to his grave, and he always done what it takes to get job done.

Essentially....Owen is going nowhere. He represents Madrid with one of the most solid bench options in Europe. If Ronaldo or Raul go cold, Owen has more then enough potential to deliver, especially in the attack-oriented La Liga.

Owen is a matchwinner. Its a pity he wasn't given enough playing time last sesaon, yet look what he's done with the time he's got! That's the mark of a great striker. Personally, I'd love to see him at Milan instead of Vieri or Pippo, but we'll have to face the fact that this is just not going to happen.

I wouldn't call Vieri useless. He was in double figures last year for goals in Serie A. If he can do the same from the bench this season, we'll be more than happy.

An injured Inzaghi is (obviously) useless. Lets just hope he has a bit of luck on the fitness front and then he could be back to his best.

sheva, gila, vieri, pippo??? that's 5 if you ONLY count sheva twice.

anyway, if pippo gets injured again and owen is thinking about leaving during the winter transfer period when real is already out of the CL again because they have too many "stars" and no team, we can think about him... but at this point it sounds like more of a rumor than anything else.

I don’t think we need 2 sign a big name in our attack.
We will play Gila-Sheva anyway coz lets face we cant find better.

With Pipo + Bobo already on our bench we cant afford 2 sign more big names.
I think we should sign-try YOUNG strikers.
I mean we do have scouts.
Why not using em?!!

The reason Owen would be leaving Real Madrid is because he wants regular first team football and not to be sitting on the bench, even if it is for the "best" football club in the world. So why then would he come to Milan knowing Gilardino and Shevchenko will be played ahead of him.

Let's kick Vieri's ass and bring Owen.

Vieri@Milan is like Del Piero@Milan.

Until Pippo is healthy we only have three strikers but I don't think Owen is for us. If we're spending more this summer I'd like to see a new defender bought and perhaps blood a primavera striker.
