Honestly we just need more playmakers and a fitter/more aggressive team.
A new coach should be able to make this team more intense. I don't expect Milan to press teams like Dortmund, city, Bayern or Liverpool, but even the current squad should be talented enough to overwhelm most opponents. Watch the champions league and you'll notice many teams, right after they win the ball back, 3 or 4 players sprinting forward to get into the box. Milan doesn't play with any urgency, the desire just isn't there. Part of it is psychological, part of it is lousy fitness training(that a few of our past coaches have commented on). The slow play has to improve, defensively and going forward.
And the lack of playmakers is just too obvious of a problem. This would solve a few of Milans technical problems at once and make a lot of our current players look like the players we thought they were when they were bought. Right now, the only even somewhat creative players we have are Suso, a forward that mostly gets assists from crossing and plays the occasional through ball, Hakan, not enough quality to be relied on to create for the whole team, would look far better in a more fluid team, and Jack, a dribbler who can't be relied upon either. That's embarrassing for a team that just spent 200 mil. We just need more players across the whole field who can open up space and create chances for the strikers. Could be a dynamic wide player like Willian or carrasco, could be a guy like fabregas, maybe a classic CAM. Doesn't matter. We just need more chances created, to make our forwards look better and let our other players(kessie, biglia) do their normal jobs. Forget about bonucci, a winger, all that kinda stuff. We need to focus on getting more variety in our play
