Fav. Players
Daniel Maldini.
Very solid player. Good to see posters appreciating him. He seems to be one of the most hated players in the squad.

He'll undoubtedly do much better once we get a fast left winger. I'm sure the management understands that.

Also, it's quite evident that Gattuso wants him to play a more defensive role. Makes a lot of sense imo.

Exactly... in a lot of ways we will hopefully have more balance next season- a fast LW should help RR and Suso by opening up space, and hopefully Conti takes the next step with him being further removed from his injury, and adds some speed to the RB spot that should also help Suso and help with overlaps on the right.

if he was fast, we'd have one of the best fullbacks in the world.

He was the commode dream signing for LB at some point(2 years before we signed him).
El Principe, Sorriso Sempre or whatever his name was, and other commoders were billing him up to be the best fullback in the world. He was considered the best LB in Bundesfodder, by many.
And I assumed it to be true.

The real star in Wolfsburg(ahead of KDB).
A Marcelo, who could also defend.
A leader.
A FK specialist.
A complete fullback and defender.

But all we get is a heterosexual De Sciglio.

I’ve been saying this since last season, RR is so crucial to our build up play from the back. He is so calm on the ball and has great feet in tight spaces. When most of you think of fullbacks, attacking ones for that matter, they think of speed, overlapping and bombarding the box with crosses.

RR is not fast and sage is right that that’s his only real weakness. The managers have spoken on how important he is for playing out of the back btw, and look how we struggle to do that when he isn’t on the field. Calabria is solid on the ball and gets noticed more in attack because he has great movement that RR can’t provide. But from actually moving the ball from deep and keeping the ball against high pressing, RR is so important. He’s a good one two punch at fullback with Calabria, and a fit conti bombing forward would completely make people forget about RR lack of ability to run and be dynamic

Our pattern for playing out is very predictable but very hard to stop precisely because of Rodriguez. We find him outside and he passes outside their press to Hakan who quickly passes inside to Paqueta or Bakayoko and we're off.

Do you have a video of this? I just haven’t noticed this move and would love to see it.

Sell.

An assist isnt enough for this mediocre guy.

Cant even cope against Illicic

Can’t even cope against Ilicic? Ilicic has been one of the toughest players to defend against in Serie a this season. Rodriguez did quite well considering Atalanta’s game.

illicic is a very talented and an underrated player. I have wanted him in milan when he used to destroy us back during his stint with Palermo. Him and pastore gave us nightmares and we had serious issued with beating them away from home. At one stage we couldn't win vs them for 5 games in a row iirc.Even their SD was claiming that Palermo have milan's number. r.rod, I don't know what to say. I will be happy if he becomes a solid defensive fullback like kolsiniac is for arsenal. He needs to pack on some size though for that role. Let the speedy fullbacks like Calabria who has vastly improved this season and conti bomb forward to provide the attacking threat while rod can focus on d3fensive duties with the 2 cb's.

Imagine having the luxury of two fullbacks who can attack. Oh wait, that's a demand for any aspiring top team. What's this alibi you guys have created for him  so the reason to why he's not attacking is that he's got defensive duties while the other fullback is attacking??

or maybe, HE FUCKING SUCKS AT IT?

not necessarily. If we are cash strapped then having him as a defensive fullback is the best option. If we have money to buy a WC LB then by all means go ahead and having rod on bench. I don't care.

Jump from RR to WC? That'll be too much to ask since we don't have a single WC player in the squad in any position. I'll accept good.

Rodriguez is good though. Not an exceptional player, but does his job good. Not as well in attack as in the rest of his skill and style, but I accept it.

Maybe not now,but this is young Milan and we have few potential WC players in every department.

It’s a pretty obvious tactic that teams employ? Milan have clearly instructed him to stay deeper.

An FB is never "excused" from going forward because he's good in defense (not that RR is) - they may be ordered to stay back because they are bad at going forward, IE risk/reward isn't good enough.

So a what you’re saying is that FB’s are never excused from going forward - except when they are?

I don't even want him make runs forward, it's pointless when you're turtle speed. I want him to whip in more crosses whenever he pushes forward, he has a good cross on him.

This is extremely rare. Pretty sure it didn't happen even once against Atalanta. Most of his passes are lateral or backwards, to Baka/Kessie/Paq or the defenders.

He is good for maintaining possession though. He very rarely messes up the lateral passes. If the plan is to attack then he's usually bypassed. The CBs and Donna will usually pass it to Baka or hoof it up to Suso, Calabria or Hakan.

I'd like to see Laxalt start a few home games(against minnows) to see how far this team is from handling more ambitious tactics, and also what we're missing out on with a slow and defensive LB. Not that I see a long-term LB in Laxalt who isn't even a natural fullback.

He reminds me of Jankulovski very technical, good runs, powerful left foot. One of our better left backs in the last 10 years imo.

jankulovski was fast though and better defensively.
