the running of the club

hope we get dinho but one thing that annoys me bout this forum is everyone puts down the owners of the club the only reason Berlusconi n Galliani wont spend big is because this club is a business. its already in debt europe is on the verge of going into a recession gates will drop merchandise will drop so i agree why plunge this club into debt for years to come when you look at it our squad isnt really that bad we got a new defender, midfielder n attacker dinho would be a bonus. but if you look around europe the only club spending big is barca n thats because they will cash in on dinho, eto and deco

give Berlunsconi a break!

That's because Barca had a crap season, just like us. Bayern also had one previous year. They spent big and look at them now - champs with 10+ points ahead of the 2nd team. Barca are following their footsteps now. On the other hand, we...

Laporta Key To ‘Dinho’s Milan Move

According to Mediaset, if Joan Laporta’s seat is confirmed in tomorrow’s elections, Ronaldinho will play at San Siro next term. Meanwhile, the Rossoneri may also move for Udinese’s Fabio Quagliarella.

The next few days will be crucial for Ronaldinho’s future at Barcelona. Today the Catalan club’s 120 patrons will be called to vote on a motion of non-confidence for the club’s current president, Joan Laporta. In order for the motion to be considered valid, at least 10% of the club’s members must vote on the matter and at least 70% of the voters would have to vote against Laporta if he is to be ousted. If the motion were to pass, the club would have three months to elect a new president and Laporta’s long-time rival, Sandro Rosell, may succeed him.

Rosell was president when Barcelona managed the Liga-Champions double in 2005/2006. The Catalan club’s success has dropped dramatically since Rosell’s departure due to his differences with Laporta. Rosell, who was also president of Nike Brazil and vice-president of Nike, is a close friend of Ronaldinho, and indeed, brought him to the Camp Nou. Rosell has promised to recover the Brazilian in his electoral campaign, though Guardiola has already made it clear that he does not consider Ronnie part of his plans. Still, Rosell is hoping that if the Brazilian regains his form, the club can sell the playmaker for a more lucrative price.

Problems would arise for AC Milan, then, if Laporta is not confirmed as president at Barca. The Rossoneri are monitoring the situation closely and are cheering for a Laporta victory. According to one report out of Spain, Laporta may consider giving their megastar to Milan on a one-year loan.

Meanwhile, Italian international Fabio Quagliarella has also been linked with a move to the San Siro. The striker is not particularly content with his contract at Udinese and Carlo Ancelotti is said to have a liking for the 25-year-old Neapolitan.

Not entirely. It just complicates things. Getting Dinho would've been much easier if Laporta had won. He still wants to come so that's a plus but we'll probably have to shell out more than we expected.

No he didn't, its a vote of no confidence which if passed, forces an election between Laporta and Rosell. It required 70% in favour of election to force one, exit polls suggest 59% in favour of the motion - no official result yet.

Laporta Survives Censure Vote
All early indications are that Barcelona president Joan Laporta has described the vote of no confidence that took place today at Camp Nou...

Laporta Survives Censure Vote

Numerous local sources proclaimed an hour after the closure of polls that Laporta and his board have weathered the storm of a vote of no confidence.

Despite most of those socios who attended on the day voting against the current regime, not enough turned out to see the board relieved of their duties.

TV3 and Catalunya Ràdio conducted a joint exit poll which, as of 20:00 (an hour before poll closure), had found that only 59.6% voted against Laporta out of their 5,187 sample.

A further 38.9% voted in favour of the president, with 1.5% not responding.

While 59.6% obviously comprises a majority, the club statutes require that fully 66% of those voting select the 'no confidence' option in order for the movement to be valid.

Should this exit poll prove to be correct then Laporta will have weathered the storm, but nonetheless it is thought that having suffered a near-60% defeat in numerical terms will damage the president's reputation.

The official count is underway and should be available this evening.

UPDATE: As of 22:44 local time 5348 (14.17%) of the votes had been counted, indicating that around 37,741 votes are expected overall and ergo 32,393 remain to be scrutinised.

So far 3,304 (61.78%) are in favour of the censure, i.e. against Laporta, with 1963 (36.71%) in support of the president, 63 (1.18%) blank, and 18 (0.34) null and void.

In other words at this early stage it appears that things are worse for the president than the exit polls suggested, although he still seems to be safe.

Official - Laporta Scrapes Through Censure Vote

Following on from earlier reports that Barcelona president Joan Laporta seemed set to survive the movement of censure against him, it has now been confirmed that he will not be out of a job this evening...

With all votes counted, the "vote of no confidence" has ended in majority for those who sought to see Laporta removed from office, yet they did not win by a large enough margin to secure their goals.

The club's statutes require a 66% "yes" vote of no confidence to dislodge a board and president, with tonight's tally falling just short.

All 118,528 eligible club socios (members) were summoned to Camp Nou today to complete their ballot during the 9am-9pm window of opportunity, although a full turnout was obviously impossible.

As of 1pm, though, it was clear that the result would stand as the 10% turnout threshold had already been passed with fully eight hours remaining.

An early exit poll later indicated that Laporta had lost the popular vote but not fallen victim to the 66% allowance, and as the results were tallied this became confirmed.

39,389 votes were counted, surpassing the turnout estimate of 37,2394 that was produced at 23:50. The overall turnout, then, comprised 32.39% of those eligible to take part.

The final results as confirmed by FCBarcelona.com at 00:03 local time on Monday 7th July were as follows

YES to the motion of censure: 23,870 (60.60%)
NO: 14,781 (37.75%)
BLANK: 540 (1.37%)
INVALID: 108 (0.27)

Laporta, then, has saved his job, with Oriol Giralt's censure movement having technically failed.

Nonetheless the president's position will be significantly weakened after such a slim margin of victory, while attaining over 50% of the vote - even taking into account the turnout - will be seen as a minor success for Laporta's opponents.

The current regime are now free to continue with their summer plans as they look to rebuild the squad and put two barren seasons behind them.

^ He did win, but he also lost - if that makes sense. He did enough to escape the vote of no confidence, as I explained earlier. But the majority of socis have shown they object to his presidency, so the Catalan media are saying he will resign/call elections anyway because he has lost all stability.

Anyway, ideal time for Milan to sign Ronaldinho has past. Laporta was desperate to sell before the vote in case he lost. Now there is not so much rush to sell, meaning they won't accept as little as they would have.

Dunga: Slimline Ronaldinho For Milan

Brazil coach Dunga has predicted a move to AC Milan for Barcelona outcast Ronaldinho, and he's also stated that the global star will slim down in time for the new season...

'Dinho's future at Barcelona seems to be all but over, but his future destination remains in the balance.

Manchester City have the financial wherewithal to tempt the Brazilian, but according to Dunga Ronaldinho's recent thoughts are that the Eastlands club is an unsuitable destination and that AC Milan is his first choice.

Speaking to the Gazzetta dello Sport, Dunga said, "Ronaldinho wishes to join Milan.

"Players decide how transfers go. The rossoneri hold all the cards in hand."

Slim'll Fix It

The ex-Brazil captain added that there were no real concerns over Ronaldinho's burgeoning waistline ahead of Brazil's Olympic campaign.

"Such reports are exaggerated: he is only a few kilograms overweight," he said.

"He will quickly slim down and this summer he'll star in Beijing."

Milan Will Sign Ronaldinho - Bronzetti

Super agent and Milan transfer consultant, Ernesto Bronzetti, is sure that the Rossoneri will sign Ronaldinho by the end of the summer.

The transfer saga has raged on and the San Siro club have kept banging at the Camp Nou door in an attempt to strike a deal and allow Ronaldinho to join them.

However, previous bids and negotiations have been scuppered for various reasons but Bronzetti still believes Adriano Galliani will pull the ‘Dinho deal out of the bag.

“Milan’s deal of the summer will surely be Ronaldinho. I am certain of this,” Bronzetti told Sky Sport Italia.

Galliani has always been the first to play it by ear and pull out all the stops when it comes to wheeling and dealing in the transfer market.

The vice president will need to ensure he stumps up the cash as it is unlikely that the Brazilian will arrive on the cheap and Milan's failure to qualify for Champions League football may also cause a problem.

The Rossoneri are currently strnegthening ahead of the new season where their objectives will be Scudetto and UEFA Cup glory.

I think Ronaldinho will come to Milan.

I hope it's sooner rather than later, we need to whip that boy into shape ASAP.
