Maldini played with best players on the world, in top club...

Maldini
Full debut season, Milan finished 7th.
Second, Milan finished 5th. 86/87. Berlusconi bought the club in 86
Third, Milan won the league.

That was far from the best Milan and best players. And we didnt know how the contract negotiations were at that time for Maldini. But I feel it isnt too different from the situation now.

Donna
Full debut, 7th
Second, 6th. Chinese bought the club
Third? ;)

Keep calm and Forza Milan

I was talking about his carrier (when he was contract extending) not start but we can look on it closer.
There was less money in football (smaller contracts), there were limits for foreigners in each league (so teams were buying rather offensive players/stars than defenders/gk/youngsters).
Cesare (player and coach) was related with acm before. Who was acm coach when maldini debut?
There were less football in media, social media didnt exist so players were less hyped than today - nobody was paying for youngsters like today (RM -> Vinícius Júnior (16) for over 40millions).

Different times...

People hating on Raiola  Dude is an absolute boss and is the best at his job. I would kill to have a manager like that if I were a football player.

Donnarumma is sitting behind a table and talking to multimillionaires...go get that money kid. :star:

He is very good at what he does.. Players want to be his client because he can bring less desirable players to big clubs (Urby to Milan, vd Wiel to PSG etc) and clubs do him these favours because he can bring 'big' players to less desirable destinations (Zlatan to PSG, Mario to Nice, even Mastour to PEC was a big publicity stunt).

If Milan decides to boycott Raoila's clients.. Milan might suffer in the sense that we could potentially lose out on good players in the future but in turn it will limit the chance of these kind of saga's. If it's worth it.. idk. I trust the management with that decision but there's a reason no other clubs (afaik) have decided to do this, despite the fact that they deal with the same frustrations.

If Donnarumma stays a Raoila client.. There's never gonna be peace around his persona.. Constant rumours and contract negotiations etc.. If the situation is like this when Donna is 18 and before he even had his first big contract.. Think of the situation when he's got two (or five) more seasons under his belt. It's bad news.

------

btw. not like i'm suggesting Donnarumma should shake Raiola 'becuz he shud love milan more than $$$'' but suggesting that Donnarumma is the victim in this saga is just not correct. Raiola works for Donnarumma and not the other way around. If there is drama.. That drama is ultimately on Donna and not on Raiola.

For Example. Tonny Vilhena (yes the Feyenoord midfielder that Milan was after for a while) dropped Raiola in 2014 (when he was 19) because Raiola pushed for him to make a big move after the hype he got from his breakthrough season and Vilhena himself, being a child of the club, wanted to stay put until he felt ready for a big club.

This season, Vilhena won the league with Feyenoord at 22 yo while being one of the key players in the team, and made significant progress as a player.

Again.. Not saying this is the 'right' option or what Donna 'should' do. But the option for Donna to do the same is there.

So do you work at McDonalds or KFC?

Kid is already making bank, and has been offered a more than fair offer to remain here, at the club that made him desirable to other big clubs.

Fuck outta here with that nonsense, you low expectations mother fucker.

Yeah well said. It's kinda silly to blame Raiola for this whole thing. If Gigio is really that much a lover of the club, he'll find a way to stay here. Raiola is a professional agent. His talents are being utilized by Gigio and/or his family. The responsibility is ultimately with them, not with Raiola.

The player use the services from the agent, but why is it that the club has to suffer? Raiola demands are always extreme and the deals he makes benefits himself. That's why he's unlikeable. Clubs shouldn't tolerate him.

If they are unreasonable, he would've been out of business by now. Clearly clubs find it a good idea to deal with him.

Dont underestimate the kind of money clubs make off marketable talented footballers these days.

3 Digao's?

Raiola demands at least 3.5 Digao's , 2.5 Chedric's bonusses + 1.7 Harvey Esajas' if Milan reach a CL spot

Niang dropped Raiola as well, can't remember why though.
But Donna can't be compared with these cases. He/his family didn't pick Raiola after making it to Milan, or Serie A(their intentions would be very clear if that was the case)
Raiola represented him even at the time of his transfer move in 2013, at age 14. They also share home region, Campania, which may play a part to Donna who has made it known he's very sensitive about anti-Neapolitan or anti-Campanian sentiments.
Who knows what kind of deal Mino has with his parents, or the type of relationship they've developed. It can't be compared to his other clients.

As for Raiola's methods, he can't make the player move unless the player wants to. I think we all can agree on that. My main issue with him is all the commissions and whatnot that he leeches off the clubs. Few agents go to such extreme lengths as him. Only deal with those types for exceptional players, but don't over-do it and don't bend over to them. The player needs to pick between the agent and the club at some point.

It's very comparable actually.

A lot of his clients have been with him since youth level, even before they break through in the first team of their club. Sometimes he moves them before they break through (Mastour when he was 17, Ouasim Bouy to Juventus when he was 19, a 16 yo AZ player to Dortmund just yesterday), most of the time he waits before they break in and gain hype before he starts pushing for a transfer (f.e. Ricardo Kishna, Tonny Vilhena, Donnarumma).

Vilhena was 15 when he became of client of Raiola, 19 when he broke with him. Feyenoord's coach Koeman criticized Vilhena post match once and Raiola threathened publically that he would transfer the player if Koeman would do that one more time. Vilhena chose for the club over the agent.

Let's hope Donna picks the club he apparently loves over his agent. He needs to pick quickly as time is running out for him. Our new management are no joke like that last.

What a bum. Lost quite a bit of respect for him with this whole saga. I don't think i'll shed tears if he leaves

It's getting really annoying read this kind of shit on a daily basis. What will you guys do in 2-3 years when we have a great team of champions that constantly get linked with other teams and tabloids constantly create fake drama around them?

We have to be patient and trust in Gigi. We can't just cry for him not having renewed in seconds when it's still only early June and there's still a lot of time.

Furthermore we have to trust on our management. They have done a pretty great job so far and I'm confident they'll be able to keep Gigi. They won't give up on such an important player for the future.

It's one thing to be linked with every other club, we've been used to that since he started performing for us. The issue is his willingness to let Mino dictate everything occurring to the point were both the fans and management are getting pissed.

When the curva sends a 2000 word essay basically telling you "get your shit together, stay or leave. Make that choice now" you know you fucked up

He is 18 years old. He's practically still a kid.
Curva didn't say anything to Gigi, their words were completely directed to Raiola.

This is why there is no point getting attached to the youngsters, who cares, get rid.

Veteran signings only plz
