den bosch fans were targetting him with monkey sounds and racist abuse, he ignored it and it got to a degree where the ref wanted to stop the game but altidore talked him out of it and then scored a goal.

Altidore said referee Reinold Wiedemeijer wanted to halt the match but was dissuaded by the players.

"We were all just telling him, 'Look we want to continue, we want to play on,' " Altidore said.

"I didn't want to give them the satisfaction and I thought the best way to respond was to keep playing and to try and win the game," he added. "I'm proud of the club, you know, for the way they responded, and my teammates. We kept playing the game."

scored and owned them, great job altidore :star:

That is really great. However the racial abuse should be stopped. What Altidore might not show up on the papers, get so much attention. Stopping the game should give strong indication that racist is not given any space in football including in stadium. Should Boateng ignored the abuse and continue the game, I do doubt the racist incident would appear every where.

Again, not that I do not agree with Altidore, it is really great from him by not giving any attention to what the racist fans were doing. I only want this kind of silly thing in football should be eliminated soon.

Thank's Sage for sharing.

Zakaria Bakkali is a great talent.
Scored a hattrick in todays league game vs NEC.
17 yo but already ridiculously complete.

He's going to be up there with the best in a few years..

What a goal by Ajax. Bruma showing how trash he is letting his man beat him like that.

Well he does have an Ajax-face tbh

Ajax-face: What was the one, the situation with Veltman, wat was going on between you guys
Pelle: Which one? I don't remember which one you mean it ... I'm a striker, he's a defender, it's normal that there is contact with us

He acts like he didn't do anything

Can anyone shed light on what caused Ajax to slip from being a challenger to being obscure in the CL?

A link will also do. Thanks!

The Bosman rule that was introduced in 1992 pretty much did it for them. Agents gained prominence in the sport and began to encourage transfers and the Dutch league being weaker than Italian and Spanish turned Ajax into a selling club so you had one team that won the CL in 1995 lose all of it's main players in one transfer season (most of them joined Milan). So Ajax lost out on a purely sporting sense since they could not have squad stability that is needed to compete in CL and turned into a talent production machine for clubs from bigger leagues. With time the big leagues got bigger and the smaller leagues became more distant so now Ajax might still be the best in Holland but not good enough to pass the group stage of the tournament and are often seeded in the 3rd pot for the draw so they will always come up against two really good teams.

Dutch cup final was pretty epic yesterday. Ajax vs PEC Zwolle (9th place in eredivisie). game was played in de Kuip (Feyenoord stadium, Ajax rival ofc).

Game started off, then after 20 seconds, loads of fireworks were thrown onto the pitch by the Ajax hooligans. They threw it towards their own keeper :fp:. There was a bit of upset but the fireworks were removed and play continued.

2 minutes into the game, Ajax scored 0-1 by a crazy longshot that hit the bottom of the bar and went in. Stadium went nuts and fireworks were thrown again :fp:, again Ajax fans and again towards their own keeper. At this stage the stadium was filled with smoke and you could barely see anything. Ref called it quits and took the teams off the pitch, safety first.

Inside they were discussing to call off the game and give the cup to PEC or play on. Edwin van der Sar came out to speak to the hooligans, he said ''If you want this to be a party then knock off with this shit, if it happens one more time we'll lose this cup and Ajax will go to fuck'. After about 30 min the play was continued.

It took no longer than 8 minutes for Pec to turn around the 0-1 to a 2-1 advantage. They won the final 5-1(!) to Ajax and they missed so many 1 on 1's with the keeper and even 2 vs 1 with the keeper.. they could have scored 3 or 4 more easily, Ajax was shut out of the match. PEC are going to play Europa League next season.

Epic.
