If we don’t sign Fernandez and Gelson Martins for free I’ll cry. This is our chance to really get some deals done without spending so we can focus on signing a big striker with whatever money we have. Sell Suso, bring in Martins for free and sign Depay with Suso’s money.

Milan CEO Marco Fassone admits the club must “take a cue” from Juventus going forward.

The Bianconeri have won the Scudetto for a seventh season in a row, extending their own record.

“For years Milan and Inter were linked by two closely related families,” Fassone told reporters at the launch of a new book.

“[Silvio] Berlusconi for 31 years and the Morattis for a similar period of time, a winning model which characterised our two clubs over the last century, not to mention Juventus.

“The ‘family’ model no longer exists though, both Milan clubs and Roma have chosen foreign owners - Inter did it twice.

“Berlusconi and Moratti had successes and triumphs, even if they were accompanied by questionable economic and financial choices.

“From 2013 onward both Milan and Inter found themselves facing a new way of doing business that takes time. Inter are a mirror for us, in five years they’ve done everything to return to being competitive and they succeeded this year.

“We’re behind compared to Juventus though, we need to take a cue from them and integrate that into the entire football system, not just one club.

“Seven Scudetti in a row is a great result for Juventus, though it’s less good for the competitiveness of Italian football.

“I’m sorry to say that Inter and Milan are about twice as far behind the Bianconeri, and bridging that gap won’t be easy.

“I repeat, we’ll try to emulate them.”
