It's not that bad. We have many good players who simply can't lift themselves to the next level without playing with some more WC players. I am pretty sure that if we add Rabiot and Martial and switch to 4-2-3-1 (Donna; Calabria, Caldara, Romagnoli, RR; Kessie, Rabiot; Suso, Hakan, Martial; Higuain) we will be playing much better and our players will raise their quality in a short period.

Of course. The more top players we add the better our performances will be. Just look at Higuain or how Bonucci raised the performance of our defence last season. Also, it’s no surprise that the teams that finish higher in the league usually have the most top players (and best coaches).

Realistically, our defence is fine but we need 2 top mids and 2 top wingers. Btw, I’m not talking about signing Pogba but players with real potential like SMS, Rabiot, Martial or even Di Maria for free. Only then will players like Kessie & co raise their performance.

who's gonna answer for having only 2CFs?? one injury and we have zero options. In the meantime Bacca scoring a winning goal yday. The whole bacca story is idiotic, we lost so much money on him when he had just one bad season after a great one.

 at bonucci. pogba and sms would cost same. di maria is washed up. would have been useful earlier in his career but now he becomes invisible for too long. i don't think rabiot will raise our performance tbh he is not what we need. we need players whose play style is similar to iniesta, messi, robben who are explosive and can exploit space and defensive lapses in a blink of an eye. our main problem though is, player movements when we attack. if we can solve that we might not even need new players in attack(for guaranteeing top 4). hakan, suso, kessie all need to improve in that area. only bona is somewhat good on making those movements and losing the markers. that is also the reason we rarely attempt through balls.

 :star: Great assesment!

IMO we do need Rabiot, we just can't rely on Biglia. Rabiot with certainly type of players you mentioned. :D

loool bonucci raised our level :D defense is doing a lot better now. But yeah SMS and Di Maria who utterly fail at carrying their teams along with Martial who doesnt even play will save us  lets not forget to swap balo for higuain too.

We need someone like Rabiot, desperately.

nothing bad at admitting that Bonucci played well in the 2nd half of the season, he was a disaster in the 1st tho

not really. we need players who can carry the ball past opponents and unsettle their defense line. we also need player who are fast. creative players can't do shit when whole team is defending.

Not really... then proceeds to name everything we failed to do last season. :monto:

Bonucci was one of our best performers under Gattuso and playing alongside him significantly improved Romagnoli’s level.

Lol @ SMS, Di Maria + Martial “utterly failing” to carry their teams. Go and check their stats from last season and compare them to our mediocre “stars” like Kessie, Hakan + Suso  They all scored/assisted the same in significantly less playing time or more overall.

Suso didn't play a minute for Spain over the international break I think yet he still looked so slow. They need to upgrade on him.

At this point just let Caldara play. It's not like Musacchio has has been a wall. They've giving up goals every game thus far.

Can we pls stop shitting on So-so yet pretending Hakan + Kessie are cut from a different cloth? All 3 are destined to be “good but not great and certainly not top players” so let’s not pretend otherwise. Thanks

Agreed. Letting a 35m signing rot on the bench is so last year.

Funny how all the posters who were ranting + raving over the Napoli/Roma performances have suddenly lost their tongue after yesterday’s shitshow. Be consistent guys

It'll probably be another season similar to last. Finish around 5th/6th. Unless they somehow keep it close to 4th going into January and make some moves in the transfer window. I'm not expecting much though until next summer. Elliott and their new management teams only had a certain number of weeks before the season started to plan with all that happened. Hopefully just keep top 4 within reach until January and everyone else contains to under perform as well.

They accuse “negative” posters of disappearing after wins yet they do the same after bad performances. Talk about practicing what you preach...

Wow it’s almost like a fan forum or something

So apparently Gazidis is joining up in December.

 Now this IS good news. He’s not the highest paid CEO in the EPL for nothing. Elliott are experts in management reshuffles at failing companies so if they’ve identified him as the right man to take us forward I fully support them. Let’s hope they take a similar approach with hiring Conte

@Kojak
you still haven't explained why Gazidis is one of the best CEOs in football

So it's entirely based on trusting Elliot's judgement?

Gazidis isn't the highest paid CEO in the EPL. He wants to be.
