Eder Aleixo was IMO the greatest left winger who ever played. He played for Gremio Porto Alegre and Atletico Mineiro among others and played for Brazil more than 50 times. Unfortunately he never played for a team in Europe. He was lightening fast and had a canon for a left foot and I once saw him score a goal from his own 40 yard line.

If you get a chance, watch the 1982 world cup games (Brazil-Russia, Brazil-Scotland, Brazil-Argentina) or watch Brazil-England (1981 friendly at Wembley) to see how good he was. Or watch old footage from Brazil-Young Boys Berne (A Swiss team) in 1983 where he scored on a free kick from 45 yards Much better than Roberto Carlos against France.

Ryan Giggs said that Eder was his soccer idol and he tries to model his game after Eder. For me Eder was more exciting to watch than Roberto Carlos, Giggs, ze Roberto and Cafu all put together!

wow......I can only pick 11 of them......hmmmmmmm

1. Diego Maradona
2. Marco Van Basten
3. Roberto Baggio
4. Michel Platini
5. Zinedine Zidane
6. Zico
7. Ruud Gullit
8. Franco Baresi
9. Hugo Sanchez
10. Karl-Heinz Rumennigge
11. Gabriel Batigol

Once again.......a list like this, I am sure Maradona, Platini, Van Basten, and Baggio would always be on here, but as for everyone else, I could probably change them daily and still be satisfied with who is on this list......In other words, we have been blessed by a generation of quality world class footballers. Also......I guarentee you, me next list will include Ryan Giggs.....best player to come out of the UK in the last 15 years in my opinion, and I suppose the reprebate Gazza isn't too far behind :D

He played for Borussia Moenchengladbach and Real Madrid for a long time and represented Germany about 40 times.
