Vettel really ruined everything for McLaren yesterday, why does he always need to crash into someone. I'm really angry at him because he took Jenson out of the race with his stupidness. At least Lewis won and we still could celebrate a victory, but a 1-2 finish would've been much better, hopefully next time no one will crash into our cars.

Lewis Hamilton slipped in the fastest lap so far this weekend right at the end of Saturday morning’s final practice session.

The 2008 world champion opted for a low-downforce set-up on his McLaren, and beat Fernando Alonso’s late rush for Ferrari with a lap of 1m 22.498s. Sebastian Vettel also improved to 1m 22.545s to trail the Englishman by only 0.047s as he edged out Alonso’s 1m 22.644s.

Right behind them came Felipe Massa on 1m 22.648s in the second Ferrari, Jenson Button who went for a high-downforce configuration on his McLaren for 1m 22.724s, and a fleet Nico Rosberg in the leading Mercedes on 1m 22.946s.

Mark Webber would undoubtedly have been up there with them but ended up seventh on 1m 23.082s after his Red Bull stooped for the second day in succession, this time after the first chicane.

Right behind him was Nico Hulkenberg in the leading Williams with 1m 23.129s, Robert Kubica on 1m 23.209s for Renault, Adrian Sutil’s Force India on 1m 23.303s, Rubens Barrichello in the second Williams on 1m 23.450s, Sebastien Buemi with a big improvement for Toro Rosso on 1m 23.673s, a disappointed Michael Schumacher on 1m 23.896s for Mercedes, the very closely matched Kamui Kobayashi and Jaime Alguersuari on 1m 23.908s and 1m 23.909s for BMW Sauber and Toro Rosso respectively, and Vitaly Petrov in the second Renault on 1m 23.967s.

Pedro de la Rosa recorded 1m 24.191s for 17th in the second BMW Sauber ahead of mechanically troubled Tonio Liuzzi on 1m 24.439s for Force India. Lotus were again in charge among the newcomers as Jarno Trulli headed team mate Heikki Kovalainen, 1m 25.788s to 1m 25.925s, then came the Virgins of Timo Glock and Lucas di Grassi on 1m 26.434s and 1m 26.682s. Bruno Senna had a troublefree run at last for 1m 27.471s, with HRT team mate Sakon Yamamoto last on 1m 28.730s.

For 36 of the 53 laps at Monza on Sunday a silver car led the reds of Fernando Alonso and Felipe Massa, but when McLaren’s Jenson Button ducked into the pits then it was Ferrari’s Alonso who led from Massa until he stopped on Lap 37. When he resumed, Alonso just made it to the first chicane ahead of Button, and thereafter there was never any question about who would win.

While the McLaren was ahead the gap between Button and Alonso fluctuated between 0.5s and 1.6s, but once the Spaniard got in front he opened it to as much as 4.0s before finishing 2.9s ahead. Massa was another 1.2s adrift, on a day when the Scuderia moved firmly back into contention for the drivers’ world championship.

It was a disastrous day for Lewis Hamilton in the other McLaren, who jumped to fourth as Mark Webber’s Red Bull again started slowly, but at the second chicane Massa’s left rear wheel came into contact with Hamilton’s front right, and by the first Lesmo the McLaren driver was in the gravel, his day done.

It also seemed like being a bad day for Sebastian Vettel as an engine problem momentarily dropped him behind Red Bull team mate Webber, from fifth to sixth. But a very clever bit of strategy from the Milton Keynes team saw them keep their man out until the 52nd lap before he finally made his mandatory tyre stop.

By then his long run had taken him ahead of fast-starting Nico Rosberg who’d held fourth for most of the race for Mercedes GP. Vettel got out of the pits ahead of the silver arrow, which had Webber on its tail after the Australian had doggedly fought by Williams’ Nico Hulkenberg. The young German made a mistake on the 49th lap, blocked Webber enough to provoke an angry gesture from the latter, then Mark made a move stick a lap later.

Webber now leads the world championship again with 187 points to Hamilton’s 182, but Alonso’s great drive vaults him to third on 166, just ahead of Button on 165 and Vettel on 163. Red Bull have 350 points to McLaren’s 347 and Ferrari’s 290.

It was a tense rather than thrilling race, but the scrap for the lower points places was always entertaining. Hulkenberg chased fifth-placed Robert Kubica for much of the race and jumped the Renault in the pit stops, but the Williams driver dropped back to seventh after Webber’s successful attack. Kubica took eighth, with Mercedes GP’s Michael Schumacher a distant ninth ahead of Rubens Barrichello in the second Williams.

Toro Rosso’s Sebastien Buemi just headed Force India’s Tonio Liuzzi over the line for 11th, with Renault’s Vitaly Petrov benefiting from a very late pit stop to take 13th ahead of BMW Sauber’s Pedro de la Rosa. Toro Rosso’s Jaime Alguersauri was 15th after a drive-through penalty for missing a chicane, while Force India’s Adrian Sutil fought up to 16th after contact on the opening lap sent him into the pits.

Timo Glock won the new teams’ race for Virgin after Jarno Trulli’s Lotus blew up late in the race, from Heikki Kovalainen in the other T127 and Sakon Yamamoto’s HRT, after Lucas di Grassi had to make a pit stop on lap 52. During Yamamoto’s pit stop an unnamed crew member was hurt, but initial reports say they remained conscious as they were taken to the medical centre for checks.

Besides Hamilton and Trulli, HRT’s Bruno Senna stopped with mechanical woes and Kamui Kobayashi did not actually leave the pit lane after problems with his BMW Sauber before he got to the grid.

I was really disappointed yesterday, first because Hamilton had contact with Massa's rear wheel and ruined his own car with that and therefore was out of the race in the first lap. But it was starting really good for Button because he had a good start and took over the lead and stayed in front until the pit stops. Unfortunately the pit stop was too slow and so Jenson lost the first place and only finished second. This was def. a lost victory because we were leading from the start of the race, only that pit stop cost us the victory, that's a bit frustrating. But it wasn't Jenson's fault, he drove a great race yesterday, the pit stop should've been faster then he would've stayed in first position. At least we got a podium finish, that's the only positive for McLaren after this race.

Fernando Alonso repeated his Monza pole position in Singapore on Saturday night as Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel failed to recover completely from a poor first run in Q3. A track that remained damp and slippery in places kept everyone on their toes.

Alonso lapped in 1m 45.390s on his first run in that final session, and though he did not improve on that on his second it remained good enough to keep him ahead of Vettel. The German moved from seventh fastest on 1m 47.937s after his first run to second in 1m 45.457s, edging McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton off the front row. The Englishman did 1m 45.571s on his first run, then failed to improve.

Both McLaren’s Jenson Button and Red Bull’s Mark Webber went quicker on their second runs. The Australian momentarily moved to fourth with 1m 45.977s before the Englishman took back the place with 1m 45.944s. Thus the five championship contenders start from the first five positions…

Williams’ Rubens Barrichello’s first-run 1m 46.236s stood up for sixth, ahead of Nico Rosberg’s 1m 46.443s for Mercedes GP, Robert Kubica’s 1m 46.593s for Renault and Michael Schumacher’s 1m 46.702s for Mercedes GP. Kamui Kobayashi was 10th for BMW Sauber on 1m 47.884s.

Jaime Alguersuari’s good weekend form continued all the way through to Q2, when he just failed to get into Q3 by a tenth of a second in the Toro Rosso. He lines up 11th on 1m 47.666s, ahead of Nico Hulkenberg who lapped his Williams in 1m 47.674s. However, the German drops to 17th because of a gearbox change.

Renault’s Vitaly Petrov was 13th on 1m 48.165s despite spinning early in Turn Five and clipping the wall with his right rear wheel, then came Sebastien Buemi in the second Toro Rosso on 1m 48.502s, Nick Heidfeld in the BMW Sauber on 1m 48.557s and the Force Indias of Adrian Sutil on 1m 48.899s and Tonio Liuzzi, who missed the chicane on his first run and improved to 1m 48.961s right at the end.

Q1 took out the usual suspects, with one notable exception.

Timo Glock has had Lotus tucked up most of the weekend and was the fastest of the new teams in his Virgin VR-01, with 1m 50.721s, but right at the end Heikki Kovalainen banged in a respectable 1m 50.915s so they were 18th and 19th. Lucas di Grassi was next for Virgin with 1m 51.107s, leaving Lotus’s Jarno Trulli 21st on 1m 51.641s. Christian Klien was the faster HRT driver with 1m 52.946s, while Bruno Senna spun in Turn Five trying to better 1m 54.174s.

The notable exception was poor Felipe Massa. With 10 minutes of Q1 still to go he brought out the red flag when his Ferrari stopped in Turn Eight on its out lap, before he had even recorded a time. His race could not thus have got off to a worse start. The Italian team believe it was caused by a gearbox problem, but are understood to have elected to change the engine in his F10 as a precaution.

Qualifying for the Japanese Grand Prix will now take place on Sunday morning after persistent heavy rain forced the session to be abandoned on Saturday afternoon.

Final practice had been a near washout in the morning, with only two drivers recording times, and with conditions worsening, the beginning of qualifying was delayed several times from its scheduled start of 14.00 local time.

The safety car was sent out periodically to check the state of the track, but with weather forecasts showing no sign of the rain easing - and with the afternoon light rapidly fading - stewards finally decided to call it a day at 15.18.

Sunday's qualifying session will start at 10.00 hours local time, 01.00 hours GMT, by which time conditions are expected to have improved.

Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel and Mark Webber annihilated their opposition in Sunday morning’s delayed qualifying session for the Japanese Grand Prix at Suzuka, their stunning pace through the Esses in the first sector giving them a conclusive advantage over opposition that proved very closely matched.

Vettel lapped in 1m 30.785s to set himself up for a repeat of his success here last year, but Webber got very close on his final run with 1m 30.853s.

Behind them, McLaren’s Lewis Hamilton more than made up for Friday’s gaffe with a brilliant run to 1m 31.169s, as Renault’s Robert Kubica bounced into contention in fourth place on 1m 31.231s to see off Ferrari’s Fernando Alonso (1m 31.352s) and McLaren’s Jenson Button (1m 31.378s). Button was the only top-ten runner to opt for the harder, prime tyre for Q3 (and hence the start of the race).

The Williams drivers showed great pace all through qualifying, but in the end they had to be happy with eighth and ninth fastest times as Nico Rosberg shoved his Mercedes into seventh with 1m 31.494s. Rubens Barrichello just aced Nico Hulkenberg, with 1m 31.535s to 1m 31.559s, as Mercedes GP’s Michael Schumacher brought up the rear on 1m 31.846s.

Hamilton, however, drops to eighth because of Sunday’s gearbox change, leaving the top 10 as: Vettel and Webber; Kubica and Alonso; Button and Rosberg; Barrichello and Hamilton; Hulkenberg and Schumacher.

As Vettel continued to set the pace with 1m 31.184s, the big news of Q2 was Michael Schumacher improving right at the end to make Q3 and Ferrari’s Felipe Massa failing to get through. To make things worse, the Brazilian wasn’t even the fastest faller. That was his old BMW Sauber team mate Nick Heidfeld, who tucked up local hero Kamui Kobayashi. The German lapped in 1m 32.187s for 11th, ahead of the Brazilian on 1m 32.321s, Renault’s Vitaly Petrov on 1m 32.422s and then Kobayashi on 1m 32.427s.

Adrian Sutil was 15th in his Force €ndia on 1m 32.659s, ahead of Jaime Alguersuari’s Toro Rosso on 1m 33.071s and Vitantonio Liuzzi’s Force €ndia on 1m 33.154s.

Sebastien Buemi’s Toro Rosso was the first car to fail to make it through Q1, which began with sufficient damp patches to warrant initial runs on intermediate Bridgestones before slicks became the order of the day.

As Vettel set the pace with 1m 32.035s from Hulkenberg on 1m 32.211s and Rosberg on 1m 32.238s, the Swiss lapped in 1m 33.568s, then came the Lotuses of Jarno Trulli and Heikki Kovalainen on 1m 35.346s and 1m 35.464s and the Virgins of Lucas di Grassi and Timo Glock on 1m 36.265s and 1m 36.332s. At the back, Bruno Senna lapped his HRT in 1m 37.270s to head team mate Sakon Yamamoto on 1m 37.365s.

TBH, I'd love to see that Baby Schumi, Vettel might have crowned the title. Unfortunately those some unnecessary failures he made in early stages of season cost him to scattering upon his point standings.

Webber's got luck + hardwork of his own which he can deliver himself to be one of strong candidate though.

In any way, still are possibilities that it counts on the remaining season who is going to be a late winner.
