I don't really care about the design, and I think this one is good enough. Obviously the area was taken into consideration when preparing the design. Its very important if there is public transport and such right next to the stadium, such thing is much more important than the design. + We should hope that everything about the staidum is done to maximize our profit as much as possible. I still hope there is a chance they can add seats, 48k seems a tad low in the long run, but hopefully all goes well and the staidum is built as soon as possible.

Don't worry about the hashtag. That's the detail in the screen. Obviously not a permanent sign.

Way social tech evolves, hashtags will be obsolete by the time the stadium is complete.

And I can completely see the way this discussion is going, Galliani will soon be blamed for spending too much on this new signing too.

Guys, the we are Milan hashtag thing is just a placeholder. If the entire thing is being paid for by sponsorship, I imagine that it will be a giant Emirates Airlines sign.

VMS - keep in mind that land and labor is much more expensive in Milan than in Torino. Roma's stadium, the actual stadium, is about 300 M, while the total project is expected to reach 1 bn per recent WSJ reports.

Wiki Source:

Jube --> € 105 million or approximate to 90 million pounds.

While Roma --> € 300 million
( 52,500 spectators, with the ability to expand to 60,000 for larger events.) + [the total cost for all the facilities and venues, including infrastructure improvement, is close to €1 billion.]

320m is still very cheap.

The cost bumpers really have to do with the 'extras'. Concrete, steel and construction crews don't reallly fluxuate that much (not over 5 years)

But milan has every intention of making this a big events venue which should drive revenues. Consider a place which can stage huge concerts, conventions and other events. Ultimately that matters.

Also wasn't their talks of an ancillary development connected to it? High rise? Mall? That's 100% accounted in cost as it'll be presented in one development plan. All good stuff to bring income to club

People NEED to get over the hashtag thing. It's hear to stay for the foreseeable future.

Every club is interested in social media engagement with their fans to generate revenue. Every club will continue to use social media marketing like #WeAreMilan.

It's 2015, that's how it'll be until something comes along

-

Like Necro said, it's a placeholder. It'll probably be a video monitor changing sponsors. Anyway you look at it, it'll have a bunch of sponsor logos.

No to High Rise or Mall, just two floors of parking, a football academy, a hotel, and an exhibition area.

Moreover, it will be ecologically friendly, capable of recycling rainwater for its bathrooms and powered partly with solar power, and it will be completely soundproof.

It will be is estimated between € 300m and € 320m, with € 220-240m for the stadium and the remainder for the adjoining structures while the sum will be provided entirely by Milan's sponsors.

It will definitely generate more revenue. Just look at the location. It's right in the middle of a very populated area while Jube is on a kinda isolated industrial location. This alone means a lot.

1 billion is actually pretty standard. The big developments for 1 billion are the infrastructure costs such as parking, paving, sewer lines, etc. Essentially, an entire area needs to be razed and created, whereas Milan are using existing infrastructure. There are advantages and disadvantages of building in an established area. The advantage being the existing infrastructure, the disadvantage being cost of land, uniformity, and space limitations.

Ultimately, I see this plan as a great one. It puts all of Milan in one place as a "temple Milan."

The one thing that worries me about revenue generation is only having two floors for parking. While much of Milan uses public transportation (yay!) people do still drive places, and that's an enormous money generator, honestly.

Edit - has anyone seen the number of seats broken out? Is it 48,000 seats PLUS luxury boxes, or are the luxury boxes included in the 48,000? If it's 48,000 plus suites, that's golden. If it's 48,000 including the suites, there will definitely need to be expandability.

Juventus didn't have to buy the land where they build their stadium. Makes a huge difference.

in brisbane we have ths suncorp stadium. it hosts 50 thou and is probably one of the best stadiums ive been too. The eithad, stamford bridge and anfield are all smaller than milans 48.000 seater! why should we build bigger? there is absolutely no need to go beyond 50 thou. especially in a city such as milan where half the population support inter. the design looks amazing, the extra facilities look and sound awesome, cant wait to see the final product. finally with more stadia going up in italia, serie a might not be finished after all.

I vote for naming writes to be Stadio Milan or Milan Arena,

it will have almost half the attendance of a sold out san siro :fp:

it will be about as intimidating as villa park or a mid table epl stadium :o

I remember when man united and bayern munich would come to the san siro and poo themselves :head:

That's only because we had players like Maldini, Nesta, Stam, Cafu, Pirlo, Seedorf, Gattuso, Kak?, Sheva, Pippo etc...and a full San Siro.

I'd rather see 48k every game than 80k 6 games and 25k rest of the season.

A.C. Milan and Arup have presented their expression of interest for the redevelopment of a central area in Milan to host the new A.C. Milan stadium.

The innovative venue will include a modern stage for the home matches of the club together with a hotel, a sports college, restaurants, children?s playground, green areas and spaces open to the city and dedicated to public use.

The project, developed by our architecture, urban planning and engineering team in Milan is well rooted in the long-lasting experience built on some of the most exciting sports projects in the world.

The new stadium will also provide a unique experience to the spectators, with particular attention towards families, with cutting edge technologies and facilities.

The project has been developed with a fully holistic and integrated approach where all the design components have been carefully balanced around the spectator?s experience.

Some of these innovative components include sight-lines analysed and designed for every seat and developed by an Arup parametric tool that guarantees the best possible view from every location in the stadium; high-tech solutions that will enhance the spectators? experience before, during and after the matches and special VIP facilities with lounges and spaces with a direct view on the mixed-zone and on the route from the athletes? changing rooms to the pitch.

As part of the sustainablity improvements, the stadium will include a moveable roof to mitigate noise in the surroundings and special attention will be dedicated to the social and environmental needs of the users.
