Im not sure Suso starts this game. But Montella will look to develop a partnership between Bonaventura and Hakan. Silva will definitely get a start. Leo has played enough games and will most likely be rested. Romagnoli needs playing time and Zapata was rotated so he'll most likely play. I expect Locatelli to get a run out too but i fear Monto will get the nod.

That Conti injury was really a blow for us because the 3-5-2 would work so well with him and RR on opposite sides.

Everyone as usual has to knee jerk to everything and act like everything that happens in a game is because of "tactics" and "formations." Can't you homies just realize that... we bought a whole new team and sometimes players have bad games? What's this about dropping Suso now because he had a bad game in the 352? Come on. He's been great in almost every game and was bound for a bad game at some point. It has nothing to do with the 352, he will play the same style if it's a 433 or 3 in the back formation.

So much other stuff to care about than playing Suso and silva. It's a midweek game against a bad team, our team will no doubt be tired and this was the whole reason for buying so many players. Suso is a must start when fit for me, he is the single most equipped player on the team to create a goal from nothing, he has the flair and skill to score or assist at any moment. And silva needs serie a minutes, he's probably our most talented forward and the faster he develops, the higher milans ceiling gets. I like how Montella is rotating the attack, every forward he has played so far, including Suso, has had their share of good games. So why complain? If they're all playing well and we win, don't worry about it.

Not a fan of 3 man back lines with 4 man midfields. It end up being a 52something when defending which puts too much pressure on the two central midfielders. 352 or 3511 and you don't have that issue

Montella tested 3-4-2-1 in today's training with Çalhanoglu and Suso behind André Silva [Sky].

cunt montela simple dont like to attack or to play with 2 strikers
sigh

3-4-2-1 dosen´t mean no 3-5-2, most coaches would start the 3 at the back adventure with a 3-5-2 as it is a bit safer.
3-4-2-1 could be a good alternative for rotation, the midfield of 2 might offer a solution for resting Kessie and the 2 attackers behind the CF are well suited for our AM-ish players.

I´d stay with the 3-5-2 for now though.

According to Sky Sport Italia, much depends on the role Calhanoglu is given, as he proved devastating as a trequartista in the 5-1 Europa League victory away to Austria Vienna.

Suso struggled playing as more of a support striker against Udinese, so Montella is trying to balance the two issues.

He’d therefore use Calhanoglu and Suso as dual trequartisti, with Ignazio Abate and Ricardo Rodriguez on the wings.

So you think Patosheva should be Milan's new head coach instead? :proud:

3-4-2-1 is pretty much how it'll look on the field. Hakan does so much more when he plays a little ahead as in Wien, Suso keeps moving a little behind as he did last weekend.. It's a natural solution to play this way.

With the squad we have, we can comfortably oscillate between 3-4-2-1 (Hakan-Suso behind any of the 3 strikers) and 3-4-1-2 (Hakan behind Kalinic and Silva).

I think the 4-man defence is officially dead now that we aren't trying it in a game like SPAL at home.

We won't see this squad at its best for another couple months most likely. I won't read that much into any formation or choices Montella makes until then. This squad has a lot of young players, a lot of players new to serie a, and they are being thrown together all at once. Montella is right to rotate not just for fitness purposes but to figure out the best identity of the team.

I don't think 433 is dead for this season, but I don't think it's the right time to go back to it. If Montella went back to 433 and lost, the fans and media would react hastily and it would add too much pressure to the squad. Until we're sure of what we have its too easy to keep things simple and go 3 in the back.

it isnt about defending it is about unlocking small teams like spal with suso hakan and silva when you alreday witnesed what 2 real strikers could do ,it is behond any normal coach to change 2 best playerss and formation that score 5 to 3 4 3 and then again put scorer of both goals on bench to try something new ,damn he has tryed everyformation on planet

No Romagnoli?

One prediction doesn't have him, one doesn't have Musacchio. Wouldn't mind one of them getting a rest.

Tbh, as long as Silva starts, I don't mind whether it's Kalinic or Suso.

Is Suso always included with the strikers with the called up players?
