So about Roma...

Now both Abbiati and Storari are injured we need to choose between the joker Dida and that Roma guy. I don't know Roma well. People who know: how good is he? Because I don't rate Dida very high nowadays.

Better off with Dida because Roma is very ordinary.

dida is off next year (imho; contract will end next year and we wont sign new with him), so bringing roma here is huge blow.

roma's contract ends at the end of the season aswell

Roma is only here for one season, just a backup because of injuries. He earns less, stays just one season. Just a cheap replacement for our backups who are injured or is now first choice because of injuries.

Milan have done enough damaging purchases, but this is not one of them.

What is the update on Flavio Roma? I notice people are assuming he's staying as a backup, but I can't remember reading anything about a renewal.

He is not going to play a single minute cos normally 2 GKs are more than enough for a seasoln. He gets half a million pay per season too. He's not even in the main 25 players of the squad. Roma is too insignificant to even bother now :D

His shd be the easiest job in the world. Don't do anythin and be in the squad for .5 million an year !!

Is this your way of saying he renewed his contract, or are you just saying things I already know and didn't ask for?

He has a 1 year contract, so he should be on his way out - unless the management decide he's a better option than say ...the Primavera goalkeeper.

Flavio had a great 2nd half against Barca earlier in the pre-season. :proud: Else they would have won in normal time easily.

Pippo

Time for him to make his full debut with us. :)
All the best Champ! :star:

Tuesday 18 January, 2011 Milan finally turn to Roma

Milan finally turn to Roma

Goalkeeper Flavio Roma will make his debut for Milan this week – 18 months after signing for the Rossoneri.

Roma will start in goal against Bari in Thursday’s Coppa Italia match given the injuries to Christian Abbiati and Marco Amelia.

The latter, who had taken over for the sidelined Abbiati in recent weeks, picked up a thigh problem against Lecce and will be in the treatment room for the next seven days.

Roma joined the San Siro giants in August 2009 after spending eight years abroad in France with Monaco.

Although the Italian international will be given a chance against Bari in the Cup, boss Massimiliano Allegri is hoping to have Abbiati back for the weekend League game against Cesena.

Andrea Pirlo may also return to action on Thursday as a substitute. The playmaker has been missing since December 18 with a muscle strain.

I think Roma is a great 3rd keeper to have around. He has a very small contract, he has a ton of experience, and he doesnt have an ego that demands he starts or clashes with the rest of the team.

I actually dont really like the idea of having a young keeper as our 3rd, because players need to play to improve, and keepers are not like field players in that it is easy to sub them in and get time.

+1
Roma for me is a good 3rd keeper, perfect for that role. He will be happy if he gets some playing time here and there. When he played in this season's friendlies he did a good job and I think he can do too tomorrow.
I wish him good luck for his debut, hopefully we'll have a clean sheet. :)

Clean sheet and we won. Start with Abbiati against Doria next week in quarters. As its one thing playing at home (San Siro) and quiet another to play away (Marassi in this case).

Besides, his reflexes dint convince me last night but thankfully it was only Bari. But an okay GK to have in reserves for now.

roma did alright with the chances that came his way...all were long shots from bari and they figured with him, they could prob catch him off guard with a long shot or 2..didn't happen and yes, we got the clean sheet which was most important..maybe because boner wasn't playing, is what helped keep the clean sheet...

Roma had a good game, and I think he can stay with the club for a year or two until we get rid of him. But if Amelia isn't available for the next Coppa Italia match, then we should def put Roma in.

at least he's no bad luck for us so far and we won with Roma in goal, which we somehow can't do with Amelia
It was a good choice from Allegri to let Roma play in the Coppa, he did well in those two matches and he's very good on high balls, he gets all of them.

Renewed his contract till 2012. Not a bad 3rd choice GK to have & may be we can have Cudicini once Roma retires. ;)

A really perfect third keeper, but i guess with the new signing, that we are sending Amelia back again?
