Speaking of.

Werdum wants to try out for WWE.

Nickname: Boomerang

:D you joke but they'd give him a boomerang gimmick.

travis browne is training to become a pro wrestler.

browne has the attributes to become successful at it...werdum does not.

Werdum is mentally done from fighting IMO. I don't see him making another push at the title.

After the Volkov fight it was pretty obvious he's a gatekeeper at best at this point of his career. No shame really, he had a great career and gave Cain a loss.

Anyone else getting really hyped for UFC 223? Obviously Khabib and Ferg are the main attraction, but this card is full with interesting fights. But yeah, whoever wins out of Khabib or Ferg is in pole position to become UFC LW GOAT.

Even before that, he seemed like he was always clowning and not serious about improving his skills.

He got pretty far with it tough so I gotta give him that and he has that win over Cain which is pretty beastly. He really looked completely outmatched in his last fight imo but my understanding of BJJ is very limited so you probably have a better read on that anyway.

His betting odds are pretty good from a gamblers perspective. I think Tony is good but I don't think his style is very good Khabib. I don't care how good his game off his back is, you can't let Khabib get you down and keep dominant top position imo.

i think this will boil down to who got the best cardio.

the first two-three rounds will probably be khabib chasing ferguson around and taking him down. but will khabib be able to keep the same pace against someone with ferguson's quality and cardio?

also underestimating jiu-jitsu have proved to be a mistake many times. there
could very well be a Silva-Sonnen 1 scenario here.

Just finished watching AJ vs Parker, man that was some fine boxing. The hand work, head work, foot work, is miles better than anything i have seen from a MMA HW fighter.

P.S: i'm not saying he would beat Stipe in a MMA fight or some absurd shite like that.

He'll definitely slow down, no question and Tony usually starts slow and gets better with time. But I imagine Khabib GnP will do quite a number on Tony and I am not sure how well he'll keep up with that. I don't think either fighter will gas.

I am not too concerned with the BJJ since Khabib supposedly is very good and prepared in that regard. Of course Tony could catch him in a submission, he's really fucking good but I see more danger from Tony cutting him or maybe even catching him out during stand up.

Of course boxers are superior in terms of boxing to MMA fighters. They are specialists while MMA fighters are generalists, even if they usually excel at one thing. Also money talks and elite boxers will gravitate towards the better paying sport.

AJ would definitely dominate Miocic in boxing even though I rate Miocic as one of the best active boxers in the UFC(I highly rate Cody too in that regard) but naturally Miocic's wrestling would smother AJ in the octagon.

Fuck me, either this is one of the worst April fools jokes or Tony actually pulled out of the fight due to injury. Looks like it's Khabib vs Holloway which on paper is a fighter I want to watch but iirc Holloway was slated for a July/August return so idk in what shape he is.

So disappointing..I had money on Tony too, really good odds.

Max is tiny, khabib will maul him lol. Although if Max pulls it off conor will definitely return for him I think.

Just makes the titlepicture even more of a clusterfuck, the fight will be for the title, but wasn't Ferguson the titleholder at present? They strip him for that? Mcgregor?

what a shitshow.

Well Max has the same height that Tony has and probably walks around at 165-170 I guess so he won't be that small. Much bigger concern is that his recent injury ankle injury probably isn't healed yet. Khabib will likely run through him.

omg Khabib-Holloway is a done deal

Max is such a gangster and ultimate warrior for taking this fight. Weird how Conor didn't offer to fight Khabib on short notice :monto:

Tony held the interim belt, this was supposed to be for the real belt. Tony is going to get stripped afaik and it makes sense - you don't need an interim title holder if you got an actual champ that's willing to defend. Doesn't really matter, they can give Tony a shot at the title vs Khabib or Max once he becomes healthy.

McGregor probably still will or should be stripped of his title once the fight commences unless the UFC is committed to being a joke.

Funny thing is he does the steel pipe kicking, his lifting form is abysmal, he does a bunch of Crossfit which is basically only good for getting injured yet he actually fucked his knee up by tripping over something after the meeting media that day :fp: He does all that crap and then gets injured due to walking incompetence. I'd laugh if it wasn't so sad.

Yeah lol, its ridiculous. Max stepping up is awesome, but i fear he is not big enough to be able to impose his will on Khabib.

Conor chickening out, shocking.

Khabib vs Holloway is as good as it gets. Shame though Holloway didn't have time to prepare.

But if Holloway wins this = Pound for pound nr1

I like it that Holloway is in the mix now at lightweight - he's cleaned out featherweight bar t-city and the real fights are at lightweight.

Conor
Ferguson
Khabib
Lee
Alvarez
Poirier
Vick
Holloway
Diaz if he ever wants to fight
Barboza
Gaethjie

Whoever manages to stay champ there for a longer time will be an all time great.

with that much quality, conor doesn't even need to be there for it to be legit.

i'm a huge conor fan, but it kinda saddens me that he took the route he did.

that fight vs mayweather feels even more unnecessary now that some time has passed. and now it's talk about fighting vs him in the octagon. :fp: fucking circus

this is MMA - there's a bunch of tough fuckers waiting in line and you go off for two years fighting a meaningless fight.

i do think that conor is the most talented guy on the roster, shame that we may never see him defend a title

This is how I think it will play out:

Khabib wins vs Holloway - fights Conor next when he gets back

Holloway and Ferguson fights for the nr 1 contender spot when Ferguson's back from injury and Holloway has had time to defend vs t-city. Ferguson vs Holloway should be an amazing fight.

Khabib/Conor vs Holloway/Ferguson

Conor vs Holloway

Conor :o

How do you like AJ vs Wilder (if it happens)?

I would have stepped in but I'm too big for Khabib. Sent the Hawaiian in to handle the light work.

molto respect to max for taking the fight, but I hope he's getting a big compensation for this because it's a massive risk.

Khabib wins vs Holloway - Conor ducks Khabib. If Kevin Lee wins vs Barboza maybe they have a title eliminator between him and Alvarez or they give shot straight up to Alvarez.

Khabib wins that and moves up to fight GSP at WW or GSP comes down to fight Khabib at LW. Khabib wants legacy, GSP wants legacy - this fight got it. Also money but Khabib doesn't care about money, he's got more than he'll ever need.

Still no trace of Conor to be found.

Max meanwhile has to deal with Ortega in FW(who for the record also said yes to the Khabib fight, Max simply was first choice - Flyweights much bigger cojones than LW division).

Maybe then we see Khabib vs Tony finally or maybe winner of Holloway vs TCity.

I want Khabib to move up to WW as soon as he has a couple defenses under his belt. I want to see how he fares against big guys.

How do you like AJ vs Wilder (if it happens)?

Wilder has been adamant lately that he wants the fight, and AJ's camp keeps stalling.

Its the fight to make, and is gonna be a tough one for AJ because he won't have a reach advantage here.

His boxing technique is clearly better than Wilder's, but the later hits like a mad truck. AJ will have to have his jab on point that night, otherwise he is going to get slept.

The liver shot is also there for AJ, Wilder leaves himself open a lot when he tries to reach over the opponents guard to knock them down. (seriously that's one of the worst boxing techniques ever that he constantly does, but the immense power gets him trough it )

/my 2 cents.
