Great haircut, amazing game. This guy is going to be so good :proud:

I still want Abate to start but hopefully De Sciglio can get plenty of playing time and develop properly without too much pressure.

I guess it isnt an exageration if people ask him to be a starter over abate at this point?

I guess the only thing he still needs to prove he is defensively sound against teams with quality wingers....which in italy dont exist anyway. :lol:

Attacking wise he did more quality crosses in one game then abate probably did the whole last season.

FACT: Antonini made 6 crosses into the penalty area, all of them were unsuccessful. De Sciglio made 9, where 4 of them were successful.

Although his natural position is RB he is Zambrotta type of full back and he can play on both sides (he played as a LB against Inter last year). Maybe when Abate will be back We can try De Sciglio at LB and Abate at RB.

The only shining light today, he surely has the potential to become a great player. He's not gift or great like Maldini was even in his young years but he has a calm, level head on his shoulders which will help him a lot.

but why put the one who can cross on the left? Shouldn't he be the one getting the RB spot?

i wouldn't worry much about that cause our left comes from urby/robinho.

The question would be, can he effectively play LB? I dunno....

for Zambrotta at LB, he was 1. able to cut in and shoot. 2. he was effective crossing from the left, be it cutting to his right foot like antonini/ronaldinho do or using his left sometimes.

Yes, his crosses were dangerous and mostly pinpoint, great corners too, I'll keep a close look on his future, very promising. Shame this kind of player only gets a chance when the team is broke and other players are injured.

I think my favourite thing about De Sciglio is his composure. Obviously his crossing is very good and he has a lot of skills, but his calmness is most impressive to me. He doesn't play like a 19 year old and that suggests that his development is actually being handled well - he doesn't look like a young player desperate to prove himself, but more like a mature one who is confident in his abilities. Cristante looked kind of the same which was very cool considering he's even younger.

Because no matter if we are agree or not, Abate is still our best back (better then Antonini, Mesbah or Bonera when he plays there). So why we wouldn't play our best 2 options on both sides?

A lot of people mentioned this before ... but play Abate at RCM ala Gattuso. He works hard, has a decent tackle ... will be quick and give full right for Mattia to push forward ...

De Sciglio impressed me today, looks a really good prospect for the future but will need match time to improve not just filling in when Abate is injured.

Abate is very good, apart of some crazy fans here most people would love to have such a RB at their club. + he is a player you need in Cl, he is able shut down dangerous wingers and thats more important than his crossing.

De Sciglio might be better one day, for now he should get times as BU and challenge for LB starting spot, thats a realistic goal for this season.
