Catania match-fixing arrests
By Football Italia staff

Seven arrest warrants have reportedly been issued to Catania executives, including their President, due to allegations of match fixing.

Corriere dello Sport has reported that Elefanti President Antonino Pulvirenti has been arrested along with vice-President Pablo Cosentino and former sporting director Daniele Delli Carri.

They have reportedly been accused of varied sporting fraud offences such as fraud in sporting competition and scams.

They are alleged to have bought Serie B matches during the 2014-15 season, and searches are being carried out in Rome, Chieti, Campobasso and Catania.

The report says that the investigation is being carried out by Digos, the Italian special branch, in collaboration with a fraud squad.

CalcioNews24 has reported that lawyers Giovanni Impellizzeri, Piero Di Luzio, Fabrizio Milozzi and Fernando Arbotti are the four others to have been charged with sporting fraud.

Remember when Catania used to give every big team a scare during 13/14 and then choke and lose in the second half?

I remember when they bent over to Inter last during a match and thinking Catania suck ass.

Not cool Catania

They should just put a stop on all betting on lower italian leagues. Seems like every year theres betting scandals. No legitimacy for these leagues whatsoever.

Parma will go down to serie D.
For those who remember the 90s, Nevio Scala is their new president.

They'll probably lose every pro... But D, they probably can get promoted with the youth team and 4-5 serie B players

Roma use Ljajic to reach Dzeko
By Football Italia staff

Serbian media claim Roma will offer Adem Ljajic to Manchester City as part of the deal for Edin Dzeko.

This is not the first time that City have been linked with Ljajic, although then it was for an exchange with Stevan Jovetic.

According to Sportskacetrala, Ljajic is the key to reducing the hefty ?20m transfer fee for Bosnian forward Dzeko.

Il Tempo newspaper said today that the Giallorossi are turning their attention back to Dzeko after losing out to Milan for Sevilla hitman Carlos Bacca.

Ljajic is a 23-year-old striker who arrived from Fiorentina in August 2013 for ?11m.

This season he scored eight goals in 32 Serie A appearances, but dropped down the pecking order under Coach Rudi Garcia.

He has one goal in 12 senior caps for Serbia, though was frozen out after refusing to sing the national anthem.

Ljajic had problems with several Coaches, as Sinisa Mihajlovic said he was addicted to chocolate and Delio Rossi was famously sacked by Fiorentina after slapping the player during a game.

We?ve already spent ?262m, more than anyone else
After years of loans and free agents, Italian football is investing again
Spain are behind (?231m) with England (?188m), Germany (?161m) and France (?44m)

Serie A spent more than all other leagues in at least one of the last two seasons as well. I remember posting that back then.

It's only Milan that was loaning.

You mean the epl? Because in terms of spending last year it was EPL>>La liga >Serie A>>>>french league

Do you have the source? One of the last two years I said. Forgot which one. Serie A has generally been spending more than the La Liga in most seasons actually iirc. Outlay only. Not subtracting income.

I suspect it's EPL > Serie A > La Liga > Bundes in most seasons.

Catania down to Lega Pro too... Cause of match fixing.

It's not even 4 years they were said to be an example of well managed mid table team punching above their weight

Here you go

Spending across the other top divisions of Europe saw La Liga splash out ?425m with Italy?s Serie A next on ?260m followed by the Bundesliga in Germany with ?250m and France?s Ligue 1 with ?100m.

EPL spent about double what la liga did last year. I suspect this year the gap will close considerably due to the Milan clubs, roma and juve once they sell pogba.

EPL: 1.06B (2014/15), 813M (13/14), 674M (12/13), 565M (11/12)
Serie A: 373M, 479M, 492M, 548M

Conte indicted for fraud?

Italy CT Antonio Conte has reportedly been indicted for alleged sporting fraud as part of an ongoing match-fixing investigation.

Corriere dello Sport has reported that the Azzurri boss has been charged by Cremona prosecutor Roberto di Martino as part of the same investigation that saw him banned for four months in 2012.

Conte?s lawyer recently rejected suggestions that he might resign from his position with La Nazionale, but calls for the 45-year-old's departure could now re-surface.

The newspaper believes that the former Juventus Coach has been charged over two matches, Novara-Siena and Albinoleffe-Siena, but that he will have to defend only one of these games.

Conte?s legal representatives are believed to have demanded that a verdict is reached before the European Championships in 2016, with the process due to start this autumn.

Serie A , the gift that keeps on giving:

Ferrero: ?Pulvirenti should die?

Sampdoria President Massimo Ferrero declares Antonino Pulvirenti ?should die? after match-fixing, and discussed Claudio Lotito.

It was revealed this week that Catania President Antonino Pulvirenti had attempted to fix five Serie B matches last season, and the Blucerchiati patron adressed the scandal in his usual outspoken style.

?It makes me sick,? Ferrero told Radio 24.

?He has to die, he should be expelled from football and society. How dare you do these things, and sully football?

?He has to be struck off, some people disgust me, trying to smear the greatest thing in the world: football.

?It makes me sick, disgusted. Don?t just throw away the key, he should die, he?s s$#@! and shouldn?t escape any of this.?

Ferrero also gave his opinions of Lazio President Claudio Lotito, who has admitted to speaking with Pulvirenti, but insists he was recommending an exorcist.

?He?s a good person, but he talks to much, and he should mind his own business. He can?t recommend anything to anyone - at most a place to buy fish at low prices.

?As they say, in Rome they have chocolate money - when you put it in your pocket it melts. I?m generous, because I come from poverty.?
