As things stand, finishing in the top half of the table looks difficult.

But I don't trust Mihajlovic to get us that 3rd spot.

Roma and Juve top 2 for me as well.
Any of those teams can get that 3rd spot. Inter and Milan the most unlikely to get it. Napoli defeated all the big teams they played but not a single small team. Lazio aren't at their best but you can't count them out. Fiorentina are good this year but can they keep it up till the end ?
The likeliest scenario would be a 3 team race between Napoli,Lazio and Fiorentina.
Put 3rd spot out of your heads. It will avoid disappointment later on. We will battle lazio, inter, sassuolo and torino for EL. Juve, Roma, Napoli and in some degree Fiorentina are going battling for top 3.

I was being overly optimistic when the transfer window closed, cause i wasn't expecting fiorentina and inter to have such a good start to the season and the napoli team to gel that quickly.
But now i realized that we also don't have the players to finish in top 3

I was never optimistic about a EL spot let alone a CL spot.
Theoretically this squad ( full healthy ) with some reinforcements in January but with a much better coach can put in a fight.

The sad thing is that our team this summer could have been massively improved with emphasis on our midfield.
A B2B mid and Allan + the additions of Romagnoli, Kucka, and Bacca would have been enough to make the team more balanced and functional.
