The Libero at Milan...

Hi all,


I have been having this debate about the great Franco Baresi and his role as sweeper. As we know Saachi preferred a flat-back four and pressing but I definitely recall Baresi playing 'slightly' behind the defence in the late 80s (and maybe even later). So, is this the case or is my memory playing tricks on me? Or was it even used as a tactic depending on the opposition? Comments from fans who are familiar/attended games in the late 1980s would be appreciated.

a legit sweeper would be amazing

i play sweeper so im obviously bias, but we need someone to save us from bonera horror shows and mishaps in defence.

i havent attennded games in the 80's tho... i was born in 94
