do people actually think he can play anchor?

He's not like mvb or de rossi or motta.

I think he'll prolly play a gattuso-esque role

I'd prefer Lass as he's a better football player and less aggressive.

We need defensive quality in midfield more than creativity now.

We can create all we want, but without a strong spine we're just gonna get trampled.

In pretty much every game we've played, there has been an evident gap between midfield and defense and very little pressing. Getting De Jong would almost remedy this.

I completely agree with your reading! I will be the happiest person if Milan signs Kaka and De Jong both (yes, still hoping G is lying and do sign Kaka). Really dont wanna see Milan losing to an English team anymore in CL.

One of the big reasons of our success last couple of years was our spine of Nesta, Silva and MvB upfront. Just when 1 of em was missing we struggled.

De Jong will be a nice destroyer to have. He's only 27.

De Jong is also the closest we have to Gattuso in football atm.

Montolivo as the Pirlo replacement ( he won't spray as many long balls and passes but defensively better tbh).

Prince as no 10 BGP.

New generation Seedorf Pirlo Gattuso ??:eek: ( for next 3-4 years) With Kaka upfront this year .. :proud::proud::proud:

Nice purchase, great buy, awesome person.

I wanna see Cassano's head in the stands when derby comes.

If we sign Kaka and De Jong in the last minute this mercato has been totally sick.

i would welcome this guy to us, could be played as an anchor but he's the best in a gatusso position

Double pivot with Montolivo, and a 4-2-3-1. I will temporarily shelf my love for regular Italian 3 CM formations.

His name, Nigel, is so British aristocratic.

-----------Monty----Nigel-------------

--Boateng------Kaka--------Rob/Bojan

--------------Pato/Pazzo-----------

Attack with an excellent age group as well. 28/22, 24, 30, 28/21, 27, 27. Kaka can be the mama bear, and the rest can grow as a team in a year or two.

One more reason to like him - He has a manly twitter handle. @NDJ_Official.

And not @Nigel_Love.

And this can easily turn into a 4-3-2-1 depending on Boateng movement.

That setup with Montolivo-De Jong looks very nice. But it also seems to depend totally on Kaká coming. And, of course, Allegri.

But in case we stick with a similar system as the current one, I wonder where De Jong would fit better. Would he take the van Bommel role? Or would he take the Gattuso role? I'd particularly want him to play as an anchor in case his passing and composure are good enough, mostly because of Montolivo. But if he's not, I think it would also be fine if he ends up being more of a ball winner. However, he would probably have to work his ass off for us to get the best influence possible from a regista Montolivo.

I don't know how Xabi is still alive after that kick .. unless De Jong had cotton balls installed on the bottom of his shoes or something
