Great choices for the starting line-up. Rui should also get a lot of minutes, although it would be too radical to start him instead of Kaka, but depending on how the game goes (which will probably be a blow-out), Rui should get 30+ minutes under his belt, simply because he has been brilliant in the pre-season. Same goes for Serginho and Ambrosini. You don't always get world-class performances by the likes of Serginho, so you might as well use him while he's hot. As for Ambrosini, if given his chances, he'll be having a hell of a season because he will be trying hard to impress Lippi to book his ticket for Germany. Frankly, he is a better overall midfielder than Gattuso. He doesn't quite have Gattuso's flair, but he's an improvement in almost every other department, plus he also has a knack for moving forward and scoring crucial goals. As for the left side of the defense, I do believe that Jankulovski will get the nod, but watch for Kaladze to step in at some point of the game. Apparently Ancelotti has promised him more playing time this year.

Prediction: Milan 5 - 0 Ascoli
Shevchenko (2), Gilardino (2), Pirlo (1, PK)

This one match wouldn't run all easy as we thought. Ascoli are nothing to lose, physically manage the game with power and strength instead of skills. This stereotype of footballing terms had been troubling us so far, to say at least we remain to end up a marginal win in hand.

First match always worries me anyhow.
