Hazard.. Man deserves to play under a coach that plays total football.

Could've been a perfect round for Serie A if Mertens hadn't missed his penalty.

Serie A on the rise.

yeah, hazard under montella would be great

Only time montella played anything close to total football was against napoli last year when we lost 2-1

What an absorbing game! Excellent result for Roma. Dzeko is a beast.

City-Napoli, Chelsea-Roma were amazing games to watch.

^ This.

I feel in a year or two Italy will be second only to Spain.

I ardently hope so, but it's too early to say.

I think Serie A teams need to get over their jitters against big clubs, especially in away fixtures. Napoli should have brought home a point yesterday, and Roma should have managed the 3-2 lead better than they did today. When under pressure, Serie A teams look really fragile.

I think it will take more than 2 years. Spanish teams are far, far ahead in so many respects. First order of business is to topple Germany and England, and then stay there. That in and of itself is a difficult task, considering the teams next year will increase to 7 for Serie A.

Serie A still has a long way to go as a league.

But I expect Italian teams to be much more competitive in Europe in the next 5 year period, especially once Milan and Inter get their shit together.

if by competitive you mean more than 1 team makes it out of the group stages, fair enough.

so sarri would win the scudetto, and then join a team that will probably barely make the EL spots?

that would not be a wise career choice.

moneywise it would

Sure.

If that's the criteria then we can say that of the last three CL finals Juve were the only non-Spanish team to challenge Barca and Real. And they were, at least in the Final, decidedly second best.

I think we and Inter are a long way off of that still. I can't foresee a more general resurgence just yet.
