Edit : Hahah i remember one day when i went for an on campus job, i had long beard, long hair and brown skin, the janitor who is black(insignificant) in there went nuts and he was mumbling some racist shit, I was going to say something stupid , but then the cleaning lady(black) got angry and told the janitor to shut up. that day i realized there wasnt much difference between me and janitor, even though I am educated

that lady has always been my role model :thumbsup:

Not really. Liberalization wasn't a choice, it was pretty much the last option and the only thing that had to be done, due to the balance of payments crisis. Old MMS just stood by and smiled.

Haha, yes, the socialist ideals are flawed and naive. Human nature doesn't dictate equality or fairness. But Marx was an honourable and extremely intelligent man. Otherwise, I don't identify with commie ideology in any fashion.

Politics is largely devoid of ideologies now (except the far-rightism which is once again creeping in), but I like to think of myself as a left of center liberal. Ironically, Congress claims to be exactly that, and I loath those guys. Dynasty baboons.

Unrelated, I have at least one junior in your Uni I think.. Some FB status on how Gainesville sucks comes to mind.

Edit - Edu Loan? Try to clear it asap. Why pay interest to idiotic banks. I just cleared mine earlier this year. The relief.

My uncle summed it up perfectly why cant coomunism succeed for a long time? becuase its against the greed the single most entity which made us here today.

I will always have soft spot for communism because it did some great things for our state, fighting against caste system and early literacy. now we are reaping the benefits, they are good revolutionaries now they should retire like milan oldies

chrisitanity came because of stupid missionaries and british rule and saint apostle thomas and it was a relief from cate system, I am not going to proclaim everything as great as few people back in my village does, but many things came out great from marx and christ, no caste system, lteracy, beef, mutton stew :thumbsup:

in my state it had some effects, the hindu system was complete shit man. I dont know much but my forefathers but they didnt have much to suffer if they had money but thats not what i hear from a grand pa who is hindu living in other district. I agree that hindu caste system makes the apartheid look like a picnic. Not to go on a large lecture on caste system But what you said about your forefathers is right, there is something called dominant caste ideology which goes beyond your regular varna system. basically it was given by this sociologist MN Srinivas who said that a particular caste can gain power in a local area as long as it enjoys economic and numerical advantage over the other castes regardless of ritual rank. Of course it helps to be from a higher ritual rank but for example the peasant class in karnataka are said to hold the most powerful due to their economic and numerical advantage over other castes eventho in the varna system they would rank 3rd i.e. your 'vasihyas'.

Eventho the christian missionaries used equality as the theme to propagate their religion caste system still managed to creep in. Caste system is inherent in every religion in india. The converts were from different backgrounds and eventhough they took up the new religion did not leave behind their old hierarchical mentality. And the British have to take a lot of blame for that. When they colonized us they made it India's identity through their oriental style writing. And we indians till today still believe that caste gives us our identity.

Its a real pity really.
