They are not saying that they don't want to give the No.1 jersey to a keeper already.

Just that with the shirt numbers. All of our keepers have favourite numbers which they already have. Abbi's fave is 12 and he'll keep that over number 1, Roma is the same just with 31 and Amelia with 32.

This doesn't mean that we'll sign one. Just that our keepers are happy with having their favourite numbers instead of No.1

That would be demoralising current keepers. I don't think it's a good idea. Where has it been done before?.

Let us look at it in different angle, maybe it is a hint that the GKs need to impress and make extraordinary efforts to earn the No.1 Jersey! or maybe as KujaIX said, who knows!?

The way I see our budget might pay one 10-15 mil signing. I seriously doubt that after signing Amelia we'd go for another keeper.

True, we have other positions to be strengthened first before we thinking on the GK one.

Despite the words issued a few days, which claimed to be the owner of AC Milan, still the voices around the future by Christian Abbiati.

It appears that the Rossoneri goalkeeper there's Sampdoria, who lost in a few days Storari Marco and Luca Castellazzi, that the two owners last season.

Remains to be determined whether there was contact between the two companies or if it is just speculation around a hot name like the number 12 Rossoneri.

It seems we are interesting big time on "Maarten Stekelenburg"!!!!!

Summer the time for abbiati 7/8/2010 3:07:00 pm

After an excellent summer of friendlies in 2008 and returning in grand style as a regular for Milan, Christian Abbiat is celebrating his birthday turning his attention to doing well for the Rossoneri once again next season.

MILAN - Summer is not one of the four seasons for Christian Abbiati: it is the season for him. For starters, it is when the mercury dial starts to climb and the goalkeeper celebrates his birthday.

That date is July 8 to be precise and so everyone at Milan wishes him well today.

His life at the club really took off in the summer of 2008. Despite being linked with Palermo he decided to take his chances at the Rossoneri, demonstrating the right spirit and maturity.

As Carlo Ancelotti tried out his three goalkeepers in the pre-season friendlies it was Christian who came out on top.

So much so that he was also the number one last season and that after suffering a serious knee injury in March 2009 when he ruptured his knee ligaments.

The summer season was also the key in 2005, this time on loan at Juventus. He ended up there, when he seemed destined to join Genoa, after Gigi Buffon suffered an injury in that year's Luigi Berlusconi Trophy.

Now in the summer of 2010 and Abbiati is planning his return to pre-season training in fine style having overcome the injury he suffered at Siena.

According to information gathered by the editors of MilanNews.it, AC Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati would have renewed the contract with the Rossoneri extended by one year.

Wow, 15 years at Milan (some years on loan) if he plays here until his contract expired.

Jheeze, he's actually been here for long. The most currently? He just won't be given the armband due to his political beliefs and the loans he incurred recently.

Abbiati would be a great backup, but I wouldn't start Lloris before him. Why don't we go for Frey? I thought Fiorentina signed Boruc?

Good news. Abbiati made a solid season. With him and Amelia we don't need another keeper.

Meh not happy or disappointed at him signing back. Bit shaky towards the end of the season but he did have a few good games before that so hope he comes good again

Go christian! 7/20/2010 10:00:00 am

The new season has started well for Christian Abbiati: the goalkeeper has extended his contract with Milan until June 30, 2013. As pre-season starts today the injury problems are in the past.

(In the photo, all smiles as the goalkeeper has extended his contract to June 30, 2013)

MILAN - Christian Abbiati is accustomed to competition and once again he is ready to do his best to claim the number one shirt at Milan.

There is no rivalry, there is no fear but the will to do well, train hard and give his best for the team, with the team is there.

The team returns to pre-season training today and Abbiati will be there at the front, and Milanello he is ready to resume the discussion, interrupted, symbolically, in Siena, in March 2009, the day he suffered a serious injury which resulted in a knee ligament operation.

That discussion started, again metaphorically, with that switch with Dida on the last day of the season against Juventus.

After a year which was not easy, due in part to knee surgery, he was finally able to give the all-clear and after a positive campaign is ready to compete with his team-mates Roma and Amelia who is one of the new players in the new coach Allegri's squad, having arrived from Genoa.

In the meantime, Abbiati's future at Milan is inked in black and white after he signed a contract extension for two more seasons which will take him through to June 30, 2013.

If we don't get a better keeper like him than it's good that we renewed his contract. He can be a good keeper for some more years, so for now it's good that he stays.

Thats what I figured. Although if Kalac had not left and freed up Flamini's favorite 16 he might have stuck with 5

He made some great saves against Arsenal and had a really good performance. Abbiati can be the starter at the GK spot if he continues with such performances.
