It could actually be a negative. Phil Neville joining is great, since SAF has been planning for years to take the Bayern approach where the club is full of ex players. Scholes, Butt, Giggs are coaches, Brian McClair is head of the academy, Yorke and Cole have free licence to help with coaching any day they want, Schmeichel is often there with a training kit on plus there's about 20 others.
Hopefully Rene Mulenstean stays as RVP + the players love him - he worked with Cleverley + Welbeck back when they were 12 years old. Eric Steele has a really close relationship with DDG too and could have helped when Barca/Madrid come sniffing.
No one really has a clue what Mike Phelan offered though, other than looking amazing in his shorts + popping balloons.
