Materazzi becomes player-manager of Chennai Titans after they fail to sign Ronaldinho!

We all can hate Chennai together! :p

Still sounds so ridiculous.

Lords of the Bollywood and Cricket clique, please take a couple of Maldivian footballers on charity to this league of superness, and I will guarantee viewership from me and that one other guy who follows Maldivian football. :b:

Any famous Maldivian footballers over 32 and likely to sell jerseys?

This looks like Serie A. In slow(er) motion.

A couple of friends and I randomly picked teams to support. I drew FC Goa. Forza Virat Kohli, Zico and Pires!

EDIT: And Andre Santos nice nice

Better match than I expected. Atletico de Kolkata quite capable. Borja's goal was class. This Fikru fellow is like a 2nd division top European league quality striker. If there was a fantasy league, I'd have picked him.

Mumbai City was really average though.

Considering the occasional quality, this is midtable Serie B level I think.

I will play the shit out of a fantasy league for this

You can even choose your favorite Bollywood owner and scooter points based on screen time

Kerala lost 0-1 :( Michael Chopra is horrible now. The team had so many more chances than NorthEast but couldnt put one in.

Delhi 0-0 Pune. Del Piero on one side. Italian tactician and Fiorentina's coaches on the other side. Classic Italian start.

Andre Moritz. Excellent player. Hat-trick today; was their best player in match 1 when he came on as as sub as well.

Was he considered good back then?

His team is the worst team in the league btw.

So far this league is classic Serie B. Teams are dead slow, but that's leading to more instances of skills and fancy goals.

I saw the top 10 goals the other day, some really good stuff in there.

Goa and Kerala :fp:

And they're supposed to be the most passionate football areas in India

Kerala is actually playing some really creative football, probably the most passing/creative type team in the league. But horrid horrid finishers. They put too much trust in Michael Chopra whose tummy is hanging out in lumps at the moment. Got benched after the first two games. Then there is a chap called Iain Hume who's the only one who seems capable of putting the ball in. Also Kerala has 5 away games first up. I still have hope they'll start getting results soon.

Goa on the other hand has been really bad. Zico has done nothing positive.

Best teams so far - Atletico de Kolkata, Chennaiyin and Delhi Dynamos.

Best player has been Elano by a countrymile. No surprise as he's the only top player in the league who's not past his prime.

The Elano?

Kerala should offer Jardel one final payday and try and get him back in shape. Just cross it into him.

Yeah, the Elano.

Anelka has debuted yesterday btw after his Quenelle ban. Kinda flopped though.

His team is the worst team in the league btw.

He was good in the youth teams, but never made anything after he was promoted to Internacional first team.

He played with Pato and Luiz Adriano (or just before them, not sure).

I support GOA because psytrance :o

Probably 2030. We've got the U-17 world cup in 2017. They are pushing to host Club World Cups and U-20 World Cup just after that. Then the plan is to qualify for WC 2026 and to host WC 2030.

So average attendance is behind only the top 4 European leagues: http://www.firstpost.com/sports/isl-best-attended-league-asia-fifth-attended-world-1800615.html

Duration and novelty plays a part of course, but this is a great start.

So many flavours to choose from in India,we have 2-3 months of Cricket,Hockey,Kabbadi,Football and starting in December,Tennis.Federer is going to be there along with Djokovic,Serena William.10 years back we just had The National Team Cricket Matches to go to.

Its a different feeling altogether to experience the first world problems of your regional football team not performing.

Never underestimate the power of Bollywood. You can sell ice to an Eskimo if Ranbir Kapoor is sponsoring it.
