I gather from the ongoing exultation here that Pirlo had a decent game

Good... it's a start :D

He needs to be more consistent than last season, however, ..... MUCH more consistent.

Pirlo kind of went downhill after the knock to his knee last season
Hope he can carry on his form for the national team to milan

He's rather slow considering he's one of the younger players in our team
Could the milanello lab come up with a programme to increase his pace

If he's to continue his role as a dm
He'll need to brush up on his defending too

Last season anyways

I doubt it. Seedorf is a consummate professional, and i guess when he leaves, he'll want to leave on a high, after proving his critics wrong (among whom i too happen to be). After all, u can hardly blame him too,he's had a highly successful career, and i won't be surprised if he'd want to go out on his own terms.

I'm quite sure there's some kind of exercise programme to help
It won't get you from 0 to 100
But even snail-pace increase helps

Maybe i'm getting myself fretted for nothing
Or maybe i'm expecting too much from pirlo

I guess you're expecting too much. I don't think he is going dhwnhill, just take a look at how he perform for Itay. You just have to wait and see how he perfrom for milan this season. :D

Pirlo is a great player u cant replace him even if gerrard was on our team i would put him in left mid because pirlo is great cm he is good defence and makes chances and heck he even sometimes scores of freekicks or penaltys

While i respect maldini
Pirlo's the only player i like
Even so i wouldn't say he is good in defending
We can't praise a player simply because he's playing in milan

Nice article, never knew Pirlo was the silver-spoon type. I especially liked the part about Inter getting a flop in exchange for him, LOL :D

Let's hope he maintains that football-changing form.

Maybe we really need to rest him in some easy matches, or we'll have a problem later in season. There is no player who can replace him just in way he plays in deep playmaker position.

Hi all of you. I'm really new here. I'd been following this forum for quite some time. I found the discussions very interesting :) . Hope to knoe all of you better.. Well, Pirlo. Such an elegant midfielder, definitely one of my fav. His contribution is very under-rated, his passing from deep is just priceless. And I really like his punt-freekick, caught many keepers off-guard (Becks would envy that)

PIRLO:'Taking free-kicks since a kid'

MILAN - La Repubblica dedicated plenty of space to Andrea Pirlo's free-kick against Schalke 04, for what was his fourth goal from a deadball situation this season: 'I've been taking free-kicks since I was a kid. Trying again and again. At Brescia, there was Roberto Baggio and no took one like him. I studied him every day and learnt from him. Then, one day I spoke to Ancelotti and the idea was hit the ball will the last three toes of the foot. It's really important to set the ball up properly before hitting it. My inspiration came from Juninho at Lyon. I saw how he hit the ball and tried the same.'

Pirlo and Juninho really are the best two free-kick takers.

Pirlo explains free-kick secret
8.12 || webmaster || $source

Source: Football Italia

Milan’s free-kick specialist Andrea Pirlo has revealed why he is so lethal from dead-ball situations.

Pirlo is widely recognised as one of the best in Italy and illustrated why with a real beauty against Schalke 04 in the Champions League on Tuesday night.

Now Pirlo, who has also netted in similar fashion during recent wins over Juventus and Lecce, has explained the secret behind his success.

"I have always been fascinated with the dead-ball aspect of the game, ever since I was a child," he said. "I would practice all of the time with mixed results."

However, Pirlo has developed into a specialist also thanks to his spell alongside the legendary Roberto Baggio at Brescia.

"He took free-kicks like no other," continued the Italian international. "I just used to stand there in training and study him for days. I think I learnt something in the end."

Nevertheless, Pirlo has also varied his style after watching the way Lyon and Brazil midfielder Juninho strikes his free-kicks.

"I’ve been inspired by Juninho," he continued. "I saw the way he makes contact with the ball and copied him.

"I spoke to Coach Carlo Ancelotti one day with the idea of striking the ball with the three small toes of my foot.

"It is also important to place the ball in a certain way."

Some players like to make contact with the air valve of the ball, which increases the chances of movement through the air.

Great articles. His free-kicks lately have been different. The ball is not really spinning and curving but the placement is more accurate. But I don't think he should reveal his secrets.

I don't see a problem with that.Coz,even if ppl copy his free kick style it won't be easy as copy the playing style. They've got to have a 'gift',kinda accuracy, amount of strength needed.
The goal keepers still would find it hard to prevent the goals, even after his revelation.

i did'nt think pirlo got his inspiration from juninho it is usually from a hero sort of person who is now retired great that he can copy such a great player like juninho.I think that pirlo's free kicks are also the best to watch out of every1's ronaldinho i see every day now:( juninho is good but doesnt play for milan so it makes pirlo better :D
