Fuck UEFA
Niang not playing sucks. We wont miss Kucka too much as he's not comfortable with Montella's system. My worry is that we'll have to play Poli so I really pray that we either buy a CM before the mercato closes or we play Pasalic and he really impresses. As for the Fullback position; last 2 games were horrible for all 3 of them. But it was just the first 2 games of the season; time to rotate for the LB and possibly give some time later for Calabria if we're winning.

Formation:

Bonaventura-Bacca-Suso
Sosa-Montolivo-Pasalic
Antonelli-Romagnoli-Paletta-Abate
Donnarumma

New untested midfield is always scary; but literally nothing can be worse than the last 2 games. That's why I prefer Pasalic over Poli. Could be an impact player. Bench is also a lot weaker because of the two reds from last game.

Udinese aren't scary. And we're playing home. Theoretically should be a solid performance and result on our part. Forza Milan.

Fuck Monto, fuck him.

Updated formation:

Formation:

Bonaventura-Bacca-Suso
Sosa-Pasalic-Mati
Antonelli-Romagnoli-Paletta-Abate
Donnarumma

I don't even have to explain why.

Would like to see Honda in place of Montolivo..

He's got all the tools to play in the midfield - why not give him a go?

Never ever seen Honda play a regista role. Has he actually done that?

I don't think he's either a good distributor or defensively good. Will be worse than Montolivo.

All the doubts for Milan-Udinese:

Left back: Antonelli or De Sciglio.
Right midfielder: Sosa or Fernandez or Poli.
Left midfielder: Bonaventura or Pasalic or Poli.
Left winger: Bonaventura or Lapadula or Luiz Adriano.

Nice to see some actual competition for the midfield spots, although Montolivo's assured presence is nauseating.

Who knows, maybe we can actually have a good midfield this season. Sosa and Mati should be instant performers.

Sosa (mezzala) and Lapadula (winger) could play from the start vs Udinese. Also Paletta is at the moment favourite to start over Gomez. #GdS

Would like to see Honda in place of Montolivo..

i agree that he's perfect for midfield.. but I don't think he can do Montolivo's role. I think he would be good as a mezz'ala on either side.

I don't know why he wouldn't even try it there? There's no way he could be worse than Poli. Sosa/Pasalic still need to adapt too.

Sosa said he's trying to play further behind so he probably will be placed in midfield with Jack in front but I personally prefer him up front as a winger until he gets used to the league + team mates. That's the position he played his best season in his career and it was last season - that's why we bought him didn't we? So play him there then... What's the point of buying a player who's excelled only to play him out of position?

I understand we need solidity in midfield but we're going to lose a lot of points while we wait for him to get accustomed to that role. I prefer gambling with players up front rather than in midfield where their mistakes can harm the team's defence.

My 11 for this game (after learning that Mati's injured for a month):

Gigio; Abate, Romagnoli, Gomez, Nelli; Pasalic, Monto, Jack; Sosa, Bacca (Lapa), Suso.

Think we need creativity to break them down

I would start Bona- Bacca- suso
And then sosa- montolivo (he will play regardless)- palisic

I really hope we don't see captain average in the first 11 ever again. Try Honda there, or some random youngster for all i care. Anything is better then that useless fuck.

Montella is considering to switch to 4-4-2 against Udinese with Bacca-Lapadula upfront [Sky].

The midfield would consist of Bonaventura and Suso on the flanks, Montolivo and Sosa as central midfielders.

Seems SOLID.

I would like a 4-4-2 (not only this game):

Suso-Pasalic-Sosa-Bonaventura
Niang-Bacca

But we have no subs for Suso and Bona.

Suso doesn't track back often enough for a 4-3-3, let alone for a 4-4-2 winger.

Also he needs to be closer to the goal.

His place in a 4-4-2 is behind the striker.

In a 4-4-2 Honda can replace both easily. He is a hard worker who is sometime better than Bona with this strategy.

4-4-2 would be a lot better for Bonaventura

For Suso 4-2-2-2 might be better

I would honestly just play the 433, with jack and Suso wide of bacca. Play pasalic and Sosa with monto in the middle. That's the most balanced, while still having 3 creative players around bacca. That lineup would hold the ball better than if lapa played as well.

It really depends on how good lapa is though. If montella sees a lot in him, that could give us two options up front and a dangerous team.

Worth a shot with our suspensions ahead of this game. Doesn't leave Montolivo as isolated in the middle and gives the squad another player that can pick out a pass in Sosa.

Not sure what to expect out of the two #9s up top, but maybe they can do some quick interchange and be awesome.

Nothing to lose this season- go all out.

It may be good to try out the different formation. But dropping Niang is not an easy decision. Bacca and Lapadula may get in each other's path initially. Suso may not be as effective as he is in the 4-3-3.

4-3-3 got us making lots of goals and chances, why change?

He was tested in a 4-3-1-2 by Miha and was so shit.

I think Montella wants to keep using Bona in midfield.

He was tried as CAM in a 4-3-1-2 and it failed, predictably, because Suso is not a workhorse or midfielder.
What does that have to do with being an SS in a 4-4-2?

Probable line-up according to GdS:

4-4-2: Donnarumma; Abate, Gomez, Romagnoli, De Sciglio; Suso, Sosa, Montolivo, Bonaventura; Bacca, Lapadula;

Niang is suspended for the match against Udinese.

Yes. But I sort of misread this as a permanent change or something.

Yes, in Niang's absence it makes complete sense to try out a 4-4-2. Also Lapadula needs an outing to get match fitness.
