Ambro played awesome against Sampdoria, he deserves a place in the starting IX. I hope this term Ambro aswell as Rui Costa are given more of an oppourtunity to play. Just that Carletto rotates more of his players.

I just wonder who he is going to start in attack?

Wooohooooo!!! Finally the season starts.

2-0 for Milan. Sheva/Gila/Kaka will score. But I'll be happy whoever scores in this opening fixture. Remember how Seedorf surprised us last season with 2 goals vs Livorno?

Preferred formation:

Dida
Cafu, Nesta, Stam, Maldini
Gattuso, Pirlo, Janku/Seedorf
Kaka
Sheva, Gila

Subs: Ambro for Pirlo. Rui Costa or Serginho for Kaka. Vieri for Gila.

I just hope that ancelloti doesnt opt to try that darn 3-man defence thing should we be a goal or two up... that 3-man defence stuff worries the crap out of me...we will get hit hard on counters...
we dont have problems in attack with our 'usual' 4-1-2-1-2
if anything...now with gila/vieri to support 1st choice sheva, i rate our attacking options more deadly that last season... we should consolidate our defence more....

I think that it is no problem to play with a 3-man defence....the difference is how this 3-man defence is used. IMO we should play with Nesta as a libero/sweeper and Stam and Maldini as centre-backs. This would mean that Nesta will play slightly behind Stam and Maldini marshalling the defence whilst they act as man markers or use the zone defense strategy (preferably man markers) Basically Nesta is perfect for that role as he has great ball control, moves with the ball gracefully and makes very good through passes and he would be able to compensate for some mishaps which could be made by Stam and Maldini. Now that would be a very very solid defence. Cafu occupies the position of full-back whilst Janku would be a wingback.
Btw Vieri is suspended for the first two matches-suspension from last season. But I do agree with you...with Vieri and Gila we have far more options this season as they have more presence than Tomasson or Crespo with all the respect to these two who made their own worthy contribution to our great Milan.

I Know some of them but they are new,like Guana,adani(from brescia),zannini(from genoa) and this might not be strange for us because he score aganist us when we lost to livorno his name is colombo

A tricky away game to start the season.Ascoli have just been promoted and an opening day fixture against Milan is their reward,they will look to impress(remember Messina last season,same script here and we're playing away from home).A chance for us to show Inter and Juve right at the start that we won't make the same mistakes that we did last year and drop points in these so called small games.1:0 will do just fine.
