Taarabt is equal parts inconsistent, talented and douchebag. He is only on a loan and is relatively young so hopefully we can see some glimmers of hope. However, this type of deal is yet another microcosm of what is wrong with this team (free transfers, lack of funds, loan deals, high wages, etc.)
With our old locker room, personalities such as Rino, Paolo, Pippo and Nesta could hold a talented douchebag like Taarabt accountable and he would either give his best or he could gtfo. I don't know the current state of the locker room but I doubt that personalities of that magnitude are still in there, commanding that kind of effort and respect. I can only hope that Clarence being back means that some of that accountability and pride returns as well and players start to recognize that they play for the colours and crest on the front of the jersey, not the name on the back.
For all intents and purposes, this season is over. The best we can hope for is progression to the next round of CL and perhaps qualification for a EL spot next season just for the money and hopefully game experience for some of our youth.
