Schalke 2-0 up
Stuttgart just equalized with a cracker from Hitzel... 1-1.

Seems like Schalke are heading for that long awaited Bundesliga title ... Why Werder, why? :(

Stuttgart wins the Bundesliga.

The more I think about it, the more I'm actually content with the Meisterschale going to Stuttgart, the youngest team in the Bundesliga, as it so sweetly disproves the commonly held belief that only experience wins trophies while youth wins nothing :D

Now Schalke could curse themselves letting Stuttgart got momentum to pass them over. Defeat to Dortmund was huge mistake, and they blown off. Congrats Stuttgart. :)

Don't know if this has been posted, but, apparently, Bayern has signed Franck Ribery for next season.

Last Update: Friday, May 25, 2007. 11:48pm AEST
Bayern sign French star Ribery

French midfielder Franck Ribery will join Bayern Munich this summer, a source close to the club revealed on Friday, in a deal believed to be worth close to $24.6 million.

The attacking midfielder, 24, will switch from Olympique Marseille to the German giants and the holder of 16 caps earned his reputation as one of the star performers at last year's World Cup, when the French made the final.

With the nine million euros transfer of German international defender Marcell Jansen from Borussia Moenchengladbach confirmed on Friday, the club will have splashed out 24 million euros (32 million US dollars) to bolster their squad.

After Bayern finished fourth in the Bundesliga last season, their worst performance for more than ten years, coach Ottmar Hitzfeld has promised sweeping changes in a bid to bring success back to the German giants.

Yeah, no kidding. Luca Toni and now Ribery...I've heard that they want Robin van Persie too, but...*clings to him* Stay at Arsenal, please!

didn't Ribery said he wanted CL football? Marseille can provide it while Bayern Munich has to make do with the UEFA Cup... strange decision...

Not a good move by Beyern IMO. He'll simply be a Sali replacement, while the bigger hole, left by Effenberg and, more recently, Ballack, hasn't been filled. For Rex's sake, I hope they get one or two quality midfielders, especially now that it seems Hargreaves may be headed to Manchester.

Ribery, IMO, is overrated. Spending most of your transfer kitty on him would be a mistake.

I couldn't find confirmation anywhere, in fact Bayern manager Hoeneß as well as Ribery's agent have denied an agreement had been reached.

^ Well that's good, I suppose. Or something.

It's really something to ponder for me why people like Luca Toni and Ribery would go to Bayern now anyway. The money? Hmph.

Money + heritage, I guess. They have reason to believe, with Ottmar in charge + making calls, that Bayern will be going places in the next 2-3 years. I'm a bit pessimistic about that fact, especially for Luca Toni, who I'm sure would like to lift "big ears" before his career comes to an end. IMO, he'd be better off signing with one of the Italian giants.

^^^ Mediocre players treated + paid like kings -- who wouldn't like it, esp. when approaching the twilight of the career ?

I doubt Ribery will join them, unless his mediocrity has been found out by the real big clubs...

Bayern should start over with young + hungry players + a young + ambitious coach, but don't tell them ;)
