Nesta has always been a clean player, I'll always appreciate a player that can foul without hurting his opposition, unlike mindless thugs that are considered to be good defenders these days or even in the past.

i heard someone say that Nesta's foul on Messi was disgusting and unfair... so i asked him what he thought of Mascherano's foul on Zlatan where he 'inappropriately touched' Zlatan all over his body.

he said it was a smart, necessary foul.

Maybe I see things I wan to see regarding Messi, but I get the feeling that Lionel may actually dread coming up against Nesta, again maybe this is just me.

In Silva and Mexes we have a world class player who can play majority of the season and are at the peak. But Nesta can still teach them a lot of great tricks. And there's no defender in this whole world who take their place in any game whenever required and play at an even better level than the starters if fresh and fit.

Never wanted him to leave the first place.

Silva/Mexes/Nesta/Bonera and a Yepes replacement and we have the best CB depth in the world .. Fine as we are

Cagliari stopper Davide Astori was left impressed by the performance of Alessandro Nesta in last night’s Milan-Barcelona tie.

Nesta, 36, was one of the Rossoneri’s star performers in the 0-0 draw with the European champions before he was replaced in the second half.

“I saw an eternal player last night…Alessandro Nesta,” the Italian international wrote on his Twitter account.

The former Lazio symbol was brought back into the Milan side on Wednesday after recent injury. He was needed alongside Philippe Mexes given that Thiago Silva is currently sidelined.

Nesta, who is only contracted at San Siro until the summer, has made just 11 Serie A appearances so far this term.
