This was the same season where he left for Montella's Milan in the January mercato, and did well.

Recipe for disaster?
We had 2 non-scoring, non-dribbling wingers last season in front of Baka & Kessie and it wasn't disastrous.
It was disastrously boring to look at. Also if you look at the xPTS table from last season Milan should've finished lower than both Roma and Lazio. Chances are that if we try the same recipe again it's not gonna go down as well as last season.

Don't get me wrong, I really couldn't stand having Suso and Hakan on the wings / in the lineup.
I've also lost hope on Kessie turning into a productive mezz'ala.
The problem in that lineup is Kessie, not Deu, Rebic or Baka.
However it's still a stronger lineup than the one that accumulated 68 points last season.

I agree that Kessie is the obvious weak link there. I think upgrading right back is a big need as well in anything we do this summer.

Like I said, adding Baka and Deu back to the team is just something I consider an upgrade to now(even last season like Goodfell said), they both know the club and I think they’re realistic signings. We could swap Paqueta for Baka or something, and Deu will force himself out of Watford this summer. Both would probably be keen to return here as well. Deu was excellent last season by the way, he definitely is being wasted at Watford. Sometimes I see him almost playing as a free roaming playmaker for them at times. He’s much deadlier channels and dribbling in wide areas. There is no disputing his speed and trickery

The question is not so much whether Deu and Baka would be upgrades to the current team. The real question is whether they are good/consistent enough to be starters for a top 4 team in Serie A. In my opinion they aren't. Too many times I've seen mediocre players replaced by players who are insignificantly better or not better at all.

What makes you think Baka can't be a starter in a Top 4 team in Serie A?
He was an undisputed starter in the Monaco team that won a league title ahead of PSG, and reached UCL semis.

He was our best or 2nd best(Piatek) outfielder last season. One of the best if not the best holding midfielder in Serie A last season.
68 points. Only 1 point away from Top 4, despite having midtable-level teammates like Suso, Hakan, Kessie, Paqueta and the fullbacks.

Baka is definitely good enough.

Iíll admit that I didnít see him much in Monaco. I did like what they did in CL but tbh he wasnít really the player who caught my eye in that team. I remember him making a fool of himself at Chelsea. Then he came to Milan and was indeed one of the best performers last season. I also think he was one of the reasons that team had such a hard time transitioning from defense to attack. Baka isnít a passer he runs with the ball and while I admit that he does that well I believe that the holding midfielder in a top 4 side should be better at distributing the ball than is the case with Baka.
Honestly I think itís just a matter of preference and taste.

I would do that. sell kessie for baka? sure. delafeou would be solid as well. We lack pace and trickery apart from rebic and Samu.
