Sky - Astori possible renewal of ownership 06.24.2010

Sky - Astori possible renewal of ownership

06.24.2010 23:28 by Anthony Vitiello
Source: tuttocagliari - SKY

Could there be a twist in the case dell'ultimora Astori. As reported by Sky, Milan and Cagliari could renew the joint ownership of Davide Astori, a central defender who has behaved well in the last two seasons in red and blue.

Until a few days ago it seemed certain the redemption of Milan for 3.5 million. Perhaps the Rossoneri want to do another year of experience in Astoria, without spending a dollar.

Twist in the case dell'ultimora Astori. As reported by Luca Marchetti, an expert on transfers of Sky, Milan and Cagliari have renewed ownership of Davide Astori, a central defender who has behaved well in the last two seasons in red and blue. haha lets hope that actually happens.

for all of this Astori hate, what we will probably do is either switch Oddo to CB full time or ask Favalli not to retire and not buy a young player. Hopefully thats not true, but I am not getting my hopes up

We have Yepes coming in and Gooch was not fit last year. Both of em r much better defenders than Kalazde, Favalli, Bonera atm and this is along with our 2 starters Nesta and Silva. So I'm not worried abt the CB situation at all.

I'm much more worried abt our 0 depth in wingers, fullback and AMF position where if Dinho/Pato/Dorf gets injured we have to play someone else out of position and our WBs r bad with only Antonini and Zambrotta above average. Those r bigger issues to spend cash on now.

To be honest. I feel that this is strong news that Otamendi is coming. I thought that either Astori or Ota would arrive, and i feel that they may have made a breakthrough with Velez and thus they let Astori stay at Cagliari.

Astori away 1 more season. I really wanted him back. We could have sold Bonera or Onyewu. Astori is just as good only alot more promising with alot bigger capacity.

I have not heard any Otamendi-rumours for weeks now. Maybe he is just a R & B forum ghost.

Buy Fucile, Ramirez, Leon = 18 millions.
Sell Borriello or Huntelaar, Pirlo or Ambrosini, = 20-30 millions.
= + 2 to +12 millions made, and team fixed.

play 4-4-2:

Ronaldinho - Pato

Ramirez - Pirlo/Ambrosini - Flamini- Leon

Antonini - Nesta - TSilva - Fucile

Scouting: Davide Astori

Date of birth: January 7, 1987
Club: Cagliari
Height: 1.88m Weight: 80kg
Nationality: Italian
Position: Centre-back

Physical attributes...
Standing over 6ft tall, Davide Astori can best be described as a defensive wall. He is strong and long-legged, with a good jump on him. Combined, these attributes see him capable of keeping some of Serie A's best strikers quiet for entire games. The Cagliari man has the ability to read passages of play and react quickly, which combined with his imposing figure sees him able to keep up with and battle tricky forward play.

Technical attributes...
Astori is usually ready with a well-timed intervention, moving out of the defensive line to intercept attacking moves with intelligence and accuracy. The 23-year-old has good basic technique, rarely makes a mistake in possession and is intelligent in knowing which way to send opponents and to minimise danger from opposition forward play.

Astori's biggest strength comes from his physical traits presenting a formidable barrier to opponents on the ground and in the air. Cagliari's No 13 is still prone to the occasional error in judgment, be that getting too close to opponents who then turn him easily or draw a foul.

Tactical attributes...
His physical and technical attributes see him best placed in his preferred position of centre-back, where he represents a tough battle for any centre-forward. Tactically at Cagliari he finds himself on the left of the centre-back pairing and prefers acting as the deeper-lying of the two, marshalling the others in the line, and often using insight to intercept passes rather than press attackers into mistakes. He closely resembles Alessandro Nesta in his playing style and positioning on the pitch, a player he cites as his role model.

After a tricky introduction to Serie A in 2008-09, last year also saw Astori work on his positioning in relation to his teammates, something that has seen him grow in confidence. However, it remains an area of his game to work on, as he can still be drawn out of position leaving gaps for runners in behind. He also currently fails to make the most of his height from set-pieces, both in defending and attacking.

Character...
Not only through his physical presence and strong attributes shown on the pitch, but also with his behaviour off it, Astori is primed as a natural leader. He leads a grounded, focused lifestyle off the pitch to complement his progress on it. He is driven and confident, with an intelligence that sees him unphased by the level of opponents he may face. He remains modest, open and determined to the cause, be that the one of his team Cagliari, or his personal one for breaking into the team he supported as a boy, Milan.

Market valuation...
Current Milan Coach Massimiliano Allegri is a great admirer, having worked closely with Astori at the Stadio Sant'Elia. He has been earmarked for a return to Milan in summer 2011 when many of the old guard are expected to leave as contracts run down. Another good season under his belt could see his valuation exceed the €10m mark, but Milan will be reluctant to part with him and the player himself wants a chance at San Siro.

This article makes it seem like he's shaping up to be the next Nesta, or at least our next great Italian defender. I would love a Cb pairing of TS and Astori in the future if he keeps progressing at this rate!

Lol that's awful flattering article. Where's it from dev1l?,?

That said, he's been steadily improving and continued growth, without a doubt he's got a place in milan. I'm not certain bonucci is better than him

If he's good enough and has nice hair then he can come :D

If he's not good enough, regardless of him being Italian, I'd rather the cash ear marked to buy the rest of his contract is used towards a RB,. Then we leave him where he is for another season or two, or until he is good enough, then we bring him here...

I've not seen as much of him as I'd like, but will be looking closely this season. The report says good things, and if his main problem is getting turned due to getting too close to players, then thats something some experience and training, plus some coaching from Nesta, should sort out

Thats a bold statement, but one I hope is true, but only if he's good enough!!!

What then for Papa though...

If Papa or Astori are the answer to Nesta's replacement, we need to get a WC defender in!!!

agreed..the new nesta is a overkill..hes was alright at best while being loaned out, but hes still young, so thats in his favor to progress now..wouldn't mind having him back, as long as he posses good defensive capabilities....

He really has been really good so far this season. and last season he showed a lot of flashes too. He seems to be turning into a really solid player and he has gotten called up to the NT. Hopefully he returns next season

Marchetti is awesome when in front of the goal, very agile, but in high balls, crossings, he is not good. TBH Canini impressed me more than Astori against Roma. But x Juve everyone looked awful, Astori a little above the rest. Of course one can't judge a player just by games like that.

But Astori is a certain bet for Milan next year. With 23 - 24 years, we can't wait another season.

Marchetti is Bad. At first I thought he just hit some bad form last yearish, but it's becoming evident to me it's more like 2 years ago, he just had a brief period of good form and is infact just a shitty keeper.

He can't do the simpliest things. He's like a bad version of 2007 victor valdes. Great he made an awesome reflex save.... then didn't know how to handle a cross and the most clumsy of players just tap in a goal cause he's so out of position

Canini's got his moments I suppose, but he's often out of position. And the fullbacks are not good, though pisano is young. Reallly I think Marchetti was awful last year probably cost Cagliari 10 goals alone. And then Astori, Canini, Pisano.... 3 of 4 defenders well under 25 is always gonna be a risk in Serie A
