This is all twink generation. I always repeat myself. Eredivisie is not a serious league. Very very rarely a talent pops up, like Suarez, Erikson, but thats only because Dutch clubs must have it from their excellent scouting as there is no big money to compete vs other clubs from Europe. Dutch talent doesnt make the cut. Issue is how youth gets developed over here together with a badly organized KNVB (dutch FIGC).

Verratti was played ludicrously out of position as a pure DM. In that position, he has always picked up lots of cards and looked like shit. He picked up a yellow card and looked like shit.

The problem is not Verratti. The problem is that Ventura doesn't understand that, if you play without midfielders who can tackle, it doesn't mean more offense; it means that the midfielders who can't tackle have to pick up the slack. It was an exact repeat of the problem with his terrible midfield selections against Macedonia (Insigne-Verratti-Candreva with DDR next to them now, Bernardeschi-Verratti-Candreva with Bonucci behind them then), except that, in that match, we muddled through based on pure talent. You can't do that against Spain.

The single most important player for Italy in 2006 wasn't Pirlo; it was Gattuso.
